I think the rule could be modified to 1 chalk per player, to be removed from the rail as soon as their inning is over.

As far as the non-smoking laws... In colorado they have the law.. can only smoke in casinos and cigar lounges (I believe). I'm a non-smoker, so I didn't mind being able to smell clean after a night at the bar/pool room. But I wish something that dramatic was put to more of a vote. Sure, I voted the local reps into office... but it doesn't feel like a real democracy, not in my eyes anyhow.

no chalk on the table is a stupid rule for pool because it all comes down to comfort when u play. players like to chalk and put the chalk back down on the rail. it's ingrained into players psyche. snooker it's not so bad because traditionally they put it in their pocket anyway. but i still think it's a stupid rule. a player shouldn't be forced to keep their chalk in their pocket. i find it awkward fumbling in my pocket to get chalk out.

There isn't actually any rule in snooker that forbids a player to put their chalk on the rail, it's just really etiquette. In a match a player may wish to put their chalk on the rail for a shot instead of in their pocket for comfort.

If you were to go into any snooker club in Britain you would most likely see some players who leave the chalk on the rail.

There are also no jump cues allowed in snooker. In fact, there's no jumping allowed at all!

Jump cues are not directly forbidden in snooker, but the cue does have to be longer than 36 inches. Under Section 2, Rule 19 of snooker, several examples are given of legal jump shots.
