How many azb'ers would be interested in watching competition built around Helfert's one-pocket ghost( no ball in hand after break)? Gabe Owens total of 60 in 5 racks might last for a long time.

How would that work, though? A normal 1P break is a soft break, meant to move balls near your pocket and leave your opponent with no shot. Playing 1P ghost, do you bust the rack as you would in 8/9 ball, and then carry on?

Corey has been known to bust 'em wide open in one-pocket, and I believe he's done it in tournament matches, not just practice or against the ghost.

Jay ran the one-pocket ghost challenge at the DCC this past January. Many players were playing a break similar to a conventional one-pocket break, but the were hitting the balls a little harder than normal. This would spread the balls out a bit more and bring the cueball back near the center of the table.

I only watched a few minutes of it here and there at the DCC, but it was interesting. Once a few players tried it, everyone else really got interested and the players seemed to have a good time with it.

was not aware of owen having 60:5. 12/rack avg is pretty sick imo. What was the equipment?

I'd love to see people get more into that. Whatever brings more attention to the game.

They were playing on 9' Diamonds at the DCC, part of the time on the TV table. 12 per rack over 5 racks is pretty sick. I missed seeing it by about 1/2 hour!

No one else broke 50. The second highest score was a 47 by Mika. The 60 by Gabe will be like Babe Ruth's 60 home runs. It may be the record for many, many years. I seriously doubt I will see it broken in my lifetime. How long has DiMaggio's 57 game hitting streak been around? 50 years maybe. Gabe may have set a record that will be like that, nearly unbreakable.

Long time no see my man!

Lay the odds and by your quote they have to be...way...way...waaay better than what you tried to give Alex on breaking 50.

Make them odds right and YOU WILL see it broken at the 2009 DCC. We already have the team set.

Just to make sure.....all of these attempts will be on the TV table, aint no negotiating on that.

Hope you're having a good summer. We've got a few rooms booked for DCC already, hope yours are too cause this place WILL sell out early. I don't think theres a whole lot left right now.

no the break is everything. many different styles. Jersey Red was the best, in the 80's at playoffs (an action joint) someone laid 10 to 1 no 15 in one rack. they agreed on 10 tries.Red put up a hundred. he ran 15 the first rack. on his break the CB hit between the 2nd and 3rd balls, a little more speed than a regular break, then the side rail and kicked the corner ball back toward his pocket.
