Why is the event that is called the "Mosconi Cup" a 9-ball event. From
what footage of Willie Mosconi, I have seen, He seemed to almost be
disgusted with 9-ball. Referring to 9-ball as a game for puddle jumpers.
Wouldn't it be more appropriate to call a straight pool event the "Mosconi
Cup" since this is the game he played mostly and was pretty much the
Greatest. I don't understand ?

I'll try to remember to ask the organizers when I see them next month. But suppose you wanted to name a pool event. Suppose you wanted to name it after a player, and you were looking for relatively well-known, classy and non-controversial. I think there aren't many choices. And if you want an audience, you probably want the game that most of the audience is familiar with. Wanderone Cup doesn't cut it.
