A Thanksgiving Day Story

I had an old friend in Redding years ago. Paid him a visit but it became just a few hour visit when we noticed a blizzard headed our way. Scored some snow chains for the truck and got the hell out of Dodge, err Redding.

Did you know Harry Biggens by any chance? Owned an electrical supply there in Redding. May have done some electrical contracting too, not sure about that. Lost contact with Harry about twenty years or so ago. He and his wife Stella were retiring and turning the electrical supply over to his daughter.

The name Biggens sound's familiar..... just remembered why. At Trinity High in Weaverville I had a classmate named Sandy Biggens. A nice young lady. Hopefully she's not offended that the Sophomoric boys called her Sandy Big Ones.
Redding has the advantage of being at the north end of the Sacramento valley and surrounded by recreation spots. A comfortable drive to lakes or the mountains.

I lived in Sacramento, mid-80's, for a couple of years and loved playing at The Jointed Cue, Terry Stonier's place.

I also liked Gene Aloha's Golden Cue. I saw him at the DCC recently and meant to say hello but got distracted and lost sight of him.

At this age it gets hard to remember dates or even which decade that I worked in Sacramento remodeling grocery stores. Must have been the '90s😉. The first one was a Safeway on Folsom Blvd. Can't even remember which of the two you name but it seems like it was the Jointed Cue that had a B tournament that I played in. I was kept under scrutiny as I was always in the cash but never won it back to back.🤷

Jointed Cue was in South Sacramento on Fruitridge Road, the place served a great Hamburger.

Remember take an Old Cue there to ask If it had much value.

Owner said it’s an Early Schreger, said that right. I bought it in 72ish, and am original owner. Guy said don’t sell it, Cue is keeper.

Pretty sure his daughter is named Sandy. You could have been a millionaire! Harry had a nice home at the end of a road on a fair sized little piece. Maybe twelve or twenty acres but that backed up to a lot of beautiful undeveloped land with no neighbors.
