A True Tadd Story

I have not been reading all of Mark Tadd's posts nor do I really know if it is indeed the the real Mark Tadd posting.........But, Before Any of you fairly new pool players give him hell because you have never heard of him....I'll post a true story about the Real Mark Tadd. The very first Pro Pool tournament I went to was about 14 years ago. I was in awe, Watching Johnny run out from everywhere and Tony Ellin smashing the rack with awesome power. At the end of the tournament a guy stands up in the stands and says...." Fun and Games are over with......Who wants to play a 10,000 dollar set?? Anybody here can get played even???" There were no Filipino's there, But Hatch, Archer, Daulton, and Varner didn't play. True story. The Guy in the stands was Mark Tadd.

I have no idea if this is the real Mark Tadd posting here. But, Many Pro's can not teach at all....Their answer is always...."You just shoot it in and run out". Many top Pro's are feel players that just feel the shot and do it, Only about 20 percent of them can actually describe and teach how to shoot the shot.

He might be guilty of woofin' - might need a spot in woofin' from some other folks, even.

But "Hatch, Archer, Daulton, and Varner didn't play."

This is a pool forum and I will be duly impressed by one who can shy up Hatch, Archer, Daulton and Varner, writing skill does not factor.

I'm happy that you were so impressed by that feat of bravado. There are many here so enamored by the presence of Mark Tadd. I see a fellow that quit school to play pool. He then quit pool to get married. He then quit the marriage and took up poker. Now, he wants to play pool again and goof off online. He feels that since he dropped out of highschool, that he's entitled to go through the rest of his life reading and writing at a fifth grade level. I'm not impressed. My nine year old grandchildren read and write better than he does. There are thousands of poolplayers that woof as well as Mark.. imo
hmmm...... well quit shool to play pool yup. i had already quit pool then got married. i was playing poker when i was married. goof off online ? seems to be what your doing. and im positive you cant play pool. i read very well and write very well thank you. i type awful cause i never typed before. im not here to impress you or anyone else for that matter. if i wanted to cross all my t's and dot all my i's typing i could just would take longer to get out my message. and since so many of you crackpots all but demand that i do i wont:) you have grand children ? wow nice example of respecting other people you are setting. i hope they never see this :( please if you ever see me in person respond in the same manner as this. not that i will do anything but to see if your as brave in person as in real life. btw i would take a I.Q test with you anyday. but first take one with your grandaughter i think she has an edge...........

Btw, this is a pool discussion forum and I am simply voicing my opinion. You may agree or disagree and that's what makes a 'discussion'. Just imagine how boring AzB would be if we all agreed, not to mention the injuries sustained as we fall all over each other at Mark's feet.. OUCH !

Yes, you were voicing your opinion. And proving yourself to be a bit of a judgemental asshole.
I am sure he appreciates you analysis of his wasted life. Hell, he's probably at home now re-revaluating his very existance.

Ooh.......
do my life next, please

... Ah yes, Dennis Hatch. Another role model.

You ain't lyin' there, are you!?!

I don't think we honor Mark/ Dennis/ Earl, etc...as role models for anything, except, of course, their pool-playing ability.

It's (still, mostly!!) a pool forum...

Well, I hope that you won't 'do anything' to me. I'll be 60 years old on my next birthday and I simply abhor violence. What does bravery have to do with it ? What exactly have I said that you take issue with ? I may not leave my house the rest of the year.. imo (going to dig through my Accu-Stat tapes and watch Mark in action) Yeehaaaaaaa !
im not a violent person just would like to see if people are as disrespectful in person. doesnt seem so . just dont understand how people could spout off at the mouth at someone they dont even know? the only reason you know a little about my life is cause i told everyone and im not ashamed or i would not have told. then you throw it all in my face . its no big deal to me cause like i said im not ashamed . all i know is i cant change a person thats between you and God.
so im not going to say no more about it. soooooooo enjoy yourself ...... :D

I really do not think that you have argued as much as just given you opinion and we all do that on here. I think some people just have issues. I have been lucky enough to have met Mark and watch him practice and I must say it is a shame the way some people treat him on this forum. He is a real approachable person and treats everyone with respect.

The whole purpose of this thread was just to say that the real "Mark Tadd" could flat out play nine ball. He could hold his own with any other guy on the planet when he was playing. I have no clue about his life. You are exactly 100 percent correct about pool for children. Who wants their child to be a Pro Pool Player??? Just about Zero unless both parents are pool nuts. Just look at the numbers.....No money, No benefits, and No retirement. How many current Hall of Famers do you think that We, the taxpayers, pay the hospital bill when they have a car wreck or get sick???

Anyway, That's a whole different thread. The Mark Tadd that I saw bark at the field could play nine ball with anybody. He was one hell of a pool player and had a heart as big as Alex. You very rarely see somebody offer to play everybody in building at a Pro tourny.....Just doesn't happen much. Unless you are Efren and he always wants to play a long race of Nine ball and would prefer to play one pocket for the cash.

Heres one thats even better. At a pro tournament Eferen offers anyone there the 8. Looks over and sees Tadd and says except you you have to play even.

Okay, I just have to jump in here for a moment and mention a couple of things:

1) As Ted Harris confirmed, he is definitely the real Mark Tadd.

2) He really does (or did) play as well as he and everyone else says he did, and he really is a good guy. Sure, he likes to talk, but he's entertaining and has a great sense of humor.

I think Mark posted on Keith's forum about one time in North Carolina when they gambled one-pocket for hours - all night - and I watched just about the whole thing. It was absolutely the most incredible pool show I've ever seen, from the actual playing to the bantering between the two. Top-notch entertainment. I don't know how I was finally able to drag myself away from the match at 4 or 5 in the morning, even though they were still going at it......incredible!! (And just in case anyone missed the thread, they broke even.)

OK,OK,here's the deal.... I'm embarrassed that I've belittled Mark in front of his many adoring fans, afterall, he's come to grips with where he is in life and doesn't require any opinions from me. So, I intend to go back through this thread and delete all my posts mentioning Mark Tadd. If the others here that 'quoted' me will do the same, all will be as before. I don't wish to get into a war of words here with Mark,he probably does have an I.Q. higher than my 147 and besides... he might beat me up... ciao (I mean CHOW)

Automatically deduct 80 points from your IQ for your stupid posts, then you should have your real number.

This is becoming a soap opera to me. I think its kinda entertaining and getting old at the same time. Actually it shouldnt be a surprise...after all we are all pool players.
I would have loved to see the one hole match between Kieth and Mark I'm sure that was entertaining.

If Mark had asked to play for $1000 or $2000 I bet the response would have been different. Not everyone has $10,000 on them all the time, or a backer that wants to risk everything on one set. Still a gutsy challenge though. If it was a PBA event any takers would be barred from the tour, all gambling had to be secretive at PBA events. A local guy once got on the PA system and challenged Earl Strickland to play some nine ball on the 10 foot snooker table at a tournament for $1000 a set. Earl just ignored him. So the local guy got to show off in front of all his peers and keep his money at the same time. When Mike Sigel was world champion a young pretty much unknown player came to a tournament and started wolfing at Mike loud enough for the whole room to hear saying "I have $3000 in my pocket and you can bust me." Then all through the tournament everytime he he saw Mike he would start pointing to the practice room, making sure everyone noticed. Mike just ignored him also. Might have been a good thing as the new guy was a young and very cocky Earl Strickland. So Earl reaped a little of what he had sown later with the snooker table challenge.

Great story Chris.
This one maybe Keith can verify b/c it might be a SoCal myth or just rumor.
Word is Keith got in a huge tournament and woofed from the stands, " I can give ya all the 8-ball".
Billy Johnson supposedly took him on it and the young Keith busted him.
Keith, I hope you write about it in your book. :)

You have a good point. Not everyone has 10,000 dollars on them. It's still a nice story though. So is the one with Efren saying he has to play even.

Good points cueman. I would pay dearly for the volumes of stories that players walk with in their head every day.

let me say this efren has never offered me weight playing 9ball or parica or anyone for that matter. i used to practice with efren and parica for 50 and 100 dollar sets. they would bet high playing even but would not give me nothing in 9ball, or plat me banks at all . i understand why parica wouldnt cause in the LA open in 93 he had me 4-0 in a race to 5, i beat him 5-4 . 9 ball banks broke and ran 3 racks on him:)..... also i used to carry largs sums of money at times in my
life mostly from poker sometimes 50k cash or chips. so there not just stories.........
