Not something I usually do as it can seem a little self-serving but I want to offer a very sincere thanks to all who have supported me and my thread encouraging a more pleasant atmosphere on the forums. Too many to list by name but I want every one of you to know your support is deeply appreciated, the PM's and brief notes as much as the posts on the forum. I also much appreciated those willing to consider what I was saying even if they didn't agree with me. Those are the people whom I am trying to help understand that the power of words can be as much the reader's view or even moreso the reader's view than the writer's.

As a side note, that post got a wider spread of support geographically than any post I have ever posted and I have been on the net since the late eighties. I literally had support from around the world.

I read thru those again and who would not want our forum to be a nicer place?

There's nothing wrong with being nice and civil. Good natured woofing is encouraged and in fact, that's one of the best parts here, the good natured ribbing and kidding around. Jimmyleggs still clobbers me every once in a while with an "Earl" bomb, and I would miss him if he stopped. This because I stood up for Earl like I do for Grady, and would for Freddy and Billy as well if the need arose. But those two (Fred & Bill) have a different personality and would be able to better handle the heat than others here have.

Nobody should ever confuse kindness with weakness. There's a BIG difference. There's nothing wrong at all in being respectful and representing yourself well. And yes, that applies to the pros as well.

yes, i totally agree. always seemed to me that there were so many posters on here that, for some reason or other, think they are moderators themselves and tell other posters to stop this, or stop that, or dont do this or that, etc.

like Reagan told Gorbachev, "Trust, But Verify"

agree on all counts

Terry,

I agree with you on all counts. We should be able to defend ourselves and nothing wrong with friendly jabs and ribbing. On the other hand attacking the weak and less able to defend themselves is ridiculous. We all know who the soft targets are and were.

I have to go edit my first post. Yours reminds me I didn't make plain I was thanking those who supported me not just in public but in PM's and notes also. All were much appreciated.
