A word about Chris Hightower.
This is my first post ever in a couple of years of being a member of this great forum. I'm just a guy who likes to hang in the shadows. But.......
Anyways I'm posting this message to share with others my experience with Chris Hightower. (which most of you probably know). This might be long but he deserves way more then I have time to type!
So I decided to give in and saved all my pennies to buy my first custom cue. Obviously there's a ton of custom cue makers in the world these days but something stuck out in my mind. I met Chris at this years expo in Jersey and got to look at a bunch of his cues and lathes. Such a pleasant guy to talk to and at that moment my mind was made up that he was going to get my business. Months later I saw a cue on his website that I fell in love with and sent him a email to see if it was available. Within a couple of hours he wrote me back and to my luck it was.
My main concern was the shaft and told him I shoot with both a Predator Z2 and a Tiger Xpro shaft and that's what I'm comfortable with. (Taper, ferrule, diameter, etc). He asked me for exact measurements from my shafts every 2 inches from tip to joint so he could build me a shaft from scratch that I would be happy with. Custom shaft also. Who does that???
So a couple of weeks later after waiting by the front door like a kid at Christmas my cue arrived. And let me tell you I was in awe when I opened the box.(which took a good 5 minutes as it was packed like Fort Knox) The craftsmanship on this cue was absolutely shocking. Inlays, points, silver stitched rings, weight were all PERFECT. Honestly it was way more then I expected for one man to build. The balance point is unbelievable and the shaft was just ridiculously perfect.
Now to my local pool room I went in a hurry. Ok I'm not a pro but let me tell all of you this cue hit like a dream. Being from Long Island I've hit with my fair share of custom cues over the years from some of the best cuemakers in the country and this cue plays just as well as any of them. It was way better then I could have ever imagined.
I just wanted to share my great experience dealing with him with all of you in case anyone is looking for an outstanding playing cue and a great person to do business with.
To Chris Hightower..... Again I thank you for this gorgeous cue and your outstanding customer service which clearly I don't think I need to tell anyone on this forum about.
Thank you all for reading this.
