Pool halls have got to be the best place to find a conglomeration of ill-informed twits who think they know everything, people who are truly great at an activity but are humble about it, people who suck who think they are the greatest, people who know everything about pool but don't share, people who know everything but are willing to share, smart asses who have a brain-mouth problem, trouble makers, etc etc etc.

In my opinion, AZBilliards is like a pool hall without the tables. Gotta take the good with the bad.

Yeah but when was the last time JimmyM passed along any secrets about pool? NEVER :) He's old school... keeps his high level knowledge to himself...

You know...I have to agree with this....I tried for years to get him to show me ANYTHING more than just Pool 101.......I finally gave up trying...

I sometimes wonder if he has any clue how he plays so good....;)

Ken...This is exactly what Efren says too, "I don't know how I do what I do...I just DO it!" You have to wonder what will come out of the FL pool school with him, although I'm sure it will be a great experience for everyone. I'd sure love to be the fly on the wall! :D

How many people on here know how good Jimmy's Dad played? Jimmy plays good, but Pepe was a killer, especially at One Pocket or bar table Eight Ball. I kept trying to beat him back in the 60's, but finally I gave up in frustration. Pepe was giving me 9-8 when I played my best. I doubt that Jimmy even knows that.

Pepe's road partner was Baby Huey, another strong player who still plays good around Southern Cal. I could actually beat him once in a while. :)

Hey LA Slim,
You appear to be older than dirt. What are you doing here with us young pups?

It's all good! I look forward to all the words of wisdom everyone is so confident you will provide on here. (but for future reference, I'm a chick... :p )

SJ D was a west side road hustler.Highly talented (Champion caliber) one pocket player. His name was not that known among the bangers of the Southern and the Eastern states. But the 'A' players and roadies from all over the USA knew about SJD.He basically hanged around western USA,colarado,Texas.I saw him for the first time in Kalamazoo,MI around 10 years ago.

I wanted to refrain from posting on this thread, but I'm sorry, I can't bite my tongue any longer.

Threads like this piss me off.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, this message board is for anybody who has an interest in the game of pool or billiards yet someone wants to torpedo the entire message board, and then duck for cover?

If you really want to make a point, why not quit generalizing and call out people by name who seem to be cutting off the billiards folks who are "in the know"?

Better yet, why not ask for a sub forum here on the AZ or create a new message board yourself with only industry insiders and pro players, or whoever else you see fit?

I realize that typed text can come across the wrong or unintended way, but I really take exception only because I enjoy posting here, and don't like being made to feel uncomfortable coomming with comments or ideas. I never claim to know more than I do, and really enjoy the knowledge and information that everyone brings to the table, even if I have to sift for gold at times.

Gregg, Apparently you did not take the time to read the entire thread.
If you had, you would have seen that I did not "run for cover'. I responded
courteously to the many who agreed, or disagreed, with my observations.
All in all it was a pretty good discourse. Please take time to read it, it
even has a few good laughs.

You have some valid points but I don't think "most have given up on this site". This is the deepest pool of knowledge and experience I have found anywhere. Just have to filter out the BS, just like anywhere else on the internet.

Sometimes people get carried away and sometimes a few really bad actors pop up. But for the most part the place polices it self pretty well. If a person has thin skin they probably won't last too long though...nature of the beast.
IT IS ALL ABOUT CUES AND NOT ABOUT POOL. WHAT A WASTE.

I didn't take it as you trying to berate people, but I feel like, from what I've read, you have a lot to offer to this message board.
