I have recently started playing on a BCA league and feel lost on the small table. No shots I cant make so I feel I should get out about everytime I get to the table but find my %'s are much lower than I think they ought to be. My ? is what is the mindset in barbox 8 ball? Is it a more finesse game than I think it is? I know it is tighter on the table with all the balls. I make the first 5 balls fine but always messing up transition from 6th to 7th ball to where I have a shot on the 8. Is there something I am just not doing or thinking about?

Also, when breaking, where do you break from? Straight on, slight left or right? Or from the side rail? Dont really care for the 2nd ball break. Thanks in advance for all you responses.

I think, it's because you're over thinking it. ;)

It's not uncommon to be puzzled by the new scale, but once you start playing normally again you'll find it less and less a problem.

Clustering is a problem in bar-box, but you can take advantage of the fact that bar-box has shallower pockets thus allowing you cheat the pocket better to get position.

When breaking on a bar box I look at the head Three balls. This tells me were
to break from. If you see a gap, break on the other side, away from the gap.

I would recommend the middle, or close to it. a good break and a good rack playing barbox 8ball basically means you make a ball. Then, once you are used to it, the game is pretty easy, imo
