Hi all,

Anyone of you here uses a tip presser? I bought 1 recently and I have no idea how to get the tip out. I believe I might have twist it a little too much and now the tip is stuck inside.

I had no idea such a thing existed but I would think a coarse thread drywall screw would be just the ticket ...get it in far enough to bite and pull...and if it's not too stuck it might not even destroy the tip. Or if you haven't already, whack the thing on a piece of soft wood or hard plastic and see if it pops out.

I dont know if this will work but i would would try inserting two pins in the tip, one on each side, then try turning slowly out so you dont break them. Whatever you do good luck.

Put it in the freezer. Maybe run some hot water over the jig and try not to make the tip wet.

Maybe the metal will expand quicker than the leather tip will.

I saw these before. Looks interesting other than the fact that when screwing the jig down over the tip, you will be exerting a circular force, (sideways skewing), to the tip rather than when using the Piccone Press and putting pressure straight down on it.

I tried using a couple of fender washers with a bolt in the hole to tighten down.

I found that instead of applying a straight downward force to the tip, that it was skewing it sideways.

I manage to get the tip out by inserting a +0 flat screw and just go round the threading anti clockwise. Took me an hour of turning to actually get the tip out. I whack the tip presser on wood and also with a hammer but because there's threading inside, it won't pop out.

I was contemplating between the one I have and Picone's one actually. I bought this is because its cheaper and lighter. I don't wanna buy so much for international shipping. :(

Few months down the road, I would get the Picone one and try. Seems to me Picone's one better because you're able to see how much you're pressing and it seems easier to get the tip out.
