I have seen that posted before but I have ran my CueMonster for about 5 years with the IBM laptop that was supplied with the machine and have not had any problems.
Except for when the battery went bad and pulled too much power from the wall wart trying to charge itself.
I just removed the battery and that is the way I have ran it ever since.
I have thought about getting a small desk computer to run it by why mess with something that is working so well for me.
Mach3 would probability be a good upgrade from DeskNC.
I would really like to have that remote joystick jog control.
Perhaps that might be a good time to switch to a desktop computer as well. Maybe next year ...
Some Laptops have a smaller Vref voltage. They don't reach 5 volts very well so the controller doesn't switch properly. Other than that, laptops do fine with Mach3. Basically, you just have to try it, if it works then it is ok.
Adonisy's problem sure sounded mechanical to me. Didn't it go away completely when he cleaned and lubricated his lead screws?
Anyway, I just wanted to chime in on the laptop thing.
