Accu-Stats DVD problem -- has anyone else experienced this?

I got the full set of Turning Stone DVD's from Accu-Stats a few months back. 9 of the 12 DVD's play perfectly. The other 3 have major sound issues -- they sound like they're being played in 32x fast forward. I spoke with Pat right after I noticed the problem on the first DVD, and he quickly sent a replacement. Same problem with the replacement. I talked to Pat, he said it's probably that the player, being a couple years old, is not DVD-R compatible, and I should upgrade. (He did offer a refund if that was what I wanted, but I'd much rather be able to see the matches, and know that I'll have no problems like this in the future.)

So a couple weeks ago, I get a new player, DVD-R compatible. Same problem. I try the DVD's on my girlfriend's new iBook. Same problem again. I call Pat, he says he's confident that it's the player, and that the -R feature on the player is not functioning. He recommended I take one of the problem DVD's to the store and see if it will play in the display machines before making a purchase.

Tonight, I did just that. I put the DVD in the cheapest, crappiest TV/DVD combo I could find, and it worked great! I was pretty excited, and I tried it on more machines, and it kept working. I bought a player, brought it home, and......same problem.

Any of you experience the same problem? I've had this problem on 3 players, all on the same TV, an LG HD plasma. I don't know if that affects anything or not. I've tried playing with and without the HDMI cable. I don't know what else to try here. Any help or ideas anyone can give would be much appreciated!
 
I have had a couple of disks do this on me. I had Pat send me a replacement and had the same problem, so I retrieved an old DVD player I had out of storage and it worked fine; everything else was the same. I thought the issue may have been that my other player was a new upconverter model with a firmware bug with reading older formats, but after hearing this I am not so sure.

Good luck on getting this working. I will be watching this thread to see if anyone with more technically savvy has the complete answer/solution.
 
Yes, I had this problem with my MacBook Pro.

Hint to Pat..... When multiple people are having the same problem on DVD players ranging from a brand-spanking-new $1800.00 MacBook Pro, to a cheap $99.00 Wal Mart model...... It's not their DVD players. There is some quality issues with the DVDs themselves.

But hey.... They only cost an average of $20-$22 apiece, right??? :D :D :D

Maybe they have a copy protection problem.
Some Original DVDs with a special copy protection doesnt run on a few Players. And i am talking about Original DVDs from the major Hollywood Studios.
