When at a tournament do the pros like to be recognized? Is it OK to address them by name when you see them milling around or heading toward the tables? Do they appreciate this? Do they want to be bothered by someone just passing by and saying Hi (fill in name) ?

depends on the player. some yes, some no.

if they are heading towards the table, hi or good luck is appropriate. don't try to introduce yourself and talk to them alot, as like everyone else, they have their mind on getting to the table and playing.

if they are milling around, be respectful like you would to anyone else, introduce yourself, talk a little bit, or whatever.

like everyone else, some are more approachable than others.

Just go by the basics of approaching a professional athlete. Don't expect them to be courteous moments prior to a game or immediately following a loss. Once removed from competition, all I've ever encountered were professional.
