Oh getting back to your original answer...I don't know who's the father of ACS?
The father of ACS is John Lewis along with Cecil Messier (SP?) and Betty Harris among others.
All of them ex-members of the then BCA.
This has all been documented elsewhere countless times and recently ACS published a public letter bashing the BCA for something.
From a somewhat interested party view......The old board didn't like the idea that the BCA separated the pool interests from the trade org interest and sold it to the highest bidder (Meet Mark Griffen).
So they took their marbles and formed the ACS with great hype and fanfare. I think the intial year or two showed some interest but with each year they lose leagues and players. The org is poorly run and they only have a few paid employees (Read slow and inefficient). All they really do a good job at is bashing the BCAPL and trying to promote the Olympics....like anyone gives a rats behind if they add cue sports to that
Here in TX the state tourney was so small....we almost have a better turnout for a city tournament.
They had John Lewis promoting the event as the tournament director (Read the ACS has no confidence that the Texas ACS folks know how to run a tourney) and working as a referee. They asked me to come back into the referee program, but watching the TX ACS just cemented my decision to remain with BCAPL.
The turnout was so bad that they were taking entries the day the tournament started and in fact let a few players that were not registered ACS members play.
Oh did I forget to mention that they used a triple elimination format and had a bracket drawn that had no place to go. It took one of the players to fix it.
Need I say more
