A friend and I will be attending the DCC in January, and I am curious how many tables are available for play that are not for the tournament. I will not be participating in the tournament but would like the chance to play alot of pool while im there, and of course gamble.

Plenty

There is no shortage of tables available. There are bar tables set up upstairs, a few 9 fters in the action areas and the tournament tables are for rent after the matches conclude daily. That is why there is so much action at the DCC.
I can't wait.

It's a little hard to get a table during the tournament hours, from say 10am till around midnight. They usually run some sort of mini-tournament during the day and evening on the bar tables upstairs as well. But if you won't be playing in the tournament, and you enjoy the "after hours" activities, then you should probably sleep some during the day anyway. Most of the action takes place from midnight till daylight, and KTown is correct, there is no shortage of tables (and action) available for anyone who is looking.

There is quite a lot of action in the lounge up front by the lobby available 24/7.
I think they always try to stop the tourney at about midnight and open all the tourney tables up for open play (Action).
There are bar box mini tourneys going on all the time upstairs. I call these "Waldo Fund Raisers". I don't think he missed one last year.

I like to hit the breakfast buffet at opening (7am) & then go to bed. I seem to get up about 4pm and that is perfect for going to watch matches and matching up for after midnight. Action or not I'll start enjoying the adult beverages about 4am until breakfast comes around again.
IT'S A 9 DAY RUT- BUT A NICE RUT, ONCE A YEAR!

TY & GL

Ps - One day when I woke up, I turned on the TV and was suprised to find Efren playing Cliff (8 to 7, 8 ahead for Large) on the TV table. They were feeding it live directly to the rooms. I took my time getting showered & dressed and it is one of the most enjoyable mornings I've had. Got down to watch it live for the last 2 hours of the match.

So you know the amazing Waldo????? I have been friends with him for a long time. Yes, he practically lives at the mini-tournament room and makes a little extra up there. We play on a fairly regular basis when at tournaments. Sam

Satman,
I'm sure you probably know Waldo is an expert in the concrete business (working with Bill C.). I was introduced to him when he did the concrete patio work on our new house last year; and was told of his proficiency with the wooden stick. I've been able to observe a few matches of his at Airport - he doesn't miss all that much. I've never matched up with him (he ALWAYS seems to have a game) - how do your games usually go??
