Action! Jay vs JoeyA!

You Are Probably A 5-2 Favorite On The Money Line.... TOO

I lost two games to JoeyA. Congrats Joey, you played good. He made ALL the banks and hit the pockets on those tight Diamonds better than me. I tried to play with a cue off the wall and that was a mistake. We did go down to the last ball in the final game. If I had made it, we would have broken even.

I WILL be bringing my Josey to Derby City for our rematch Joey. Count on it! I ain't done yet!

Jay, you are a longtime veteran of the pooltable battles and a gambling warrior, while JoeyA. is simply a hard working man with little time to practice or play his chosen favorite sport.

It's unfair of you lay in wait and set a pool trap for JoeyA. In the interest of fair play, I think that it's only right for a seasoned gambling Professional such as yourself to give a little weight to a hard working part time player struggling to rebuild his home and feed his family.

I think that you should spot JoeyA. 9-7 and at least give him a slight chance to be competitive and possibly break even. I didn't have the heart to tell JoeyA. that you were exhausted and on the stall when you played him at the Open.

People here at AZB will hold you in even higher regard if you don't break his spirit and leave him with his pants pockets turned inside out like 'elephant ears'.....

Doug
( please don't make JoeyA. regret his decision to attend the DCC )

No EXCUSES!!!!!! Except for the following: you had to play with a house cue; you had no time to play pool; you were tired; you never brought your cue.
(just kidding you)
Wayne

Thanks for noticing! I used every possible excuse to explain this small loss. :)

Thanks for sharing Doug! Now I know you have a piece of his action in Louisville. That will give me a little more incentive. :)

Thanks to all those who said nice things about my commentary. Nothing I'd rather do then watch a pool match and talk about it.

My attitude is that it's not about me, it's about the players. I try to shut up sometimes and just let the match unfold. I don't feel like I need to be blabbing non stop.

I found that Danny and I see many of the same things. I once again enjoyed working with Jimmy. I like the enthusiasm he brings to the booth. His pronounciation of some names doesn't bother me one iota. I have trouble saying Immonen.

Working with Pat Fleming is a dream. He is a consumate professional and everything runs smoothly when he's involved. Rob Sykora is way ahead of the game when it comes to internet presentations. He could give all the others the five ball!

I wish you all could see and hear the matches from Manila. That is simply the best show period in professional pool. I think there will be an internet link. I'll let you know when I find out.

I KNOW Jay Will Do The Right Thing.....I Mean, It's Only TWO Balls

Jay, I don't have a piece of Joey's action, I'm only concerned for his well being. Currently, all my money is tied up in cash and the local poker room is holding on to that until I eventually win a hand.

JoeyA. going to the DCC is like the country bumpkin going to the big city and being befuddled by all the tall buildings. I think that starting out by giving JoeyA. 9-7 is only fair and sporting and I know that he's too proud to ask for a further adjustment in his favor, no matter HOW badly he's stuck...... Please, don't cook him 'til he's blue.

Doug

I was the one that said "Whatsup Jay" after the champaign toast. I actually had my Josey, so you could've used that :p

I was at Q-Masters afterward too, but left around 2.

Boo hoo, you're touching my heart. All I know is the guy never missed a bank. I'm not sure if I could play him some Bank Pool, but I might try a few games for 50. And I will play him 50 a rack One Pocket in Derby City. I know he likes it now. He saw how soft I was.

Joey is a good shortstop speed player, just like me. He is a good guy though, just like on the forum. He never complained once while I was paying him off. :)

Well, if you whip up on him, break his spirit, take his money and diminish his love for this sport,
Let It Be On YOUR Head.

( I implore Joey not to blindly go to the DCC, like a lamb to the slaughter )

Had the forum turned on early this morning but haven't had achance to respond. You guys are something. Smorg, you've got a real nice new Avatar to go along with your schtick. Thanks for picking me up at the hotel and showing me around Tampa. That as cool.

Jay, I enjoyed our match. I sincerely empathize with you about the cue. My game is off 2-3 balls when I play with another cue and you did have one of the ugliest pieces of timber I have ever seen. :D It was nice meeting you and look forward to playing some more one pocket when we get to Derby City Classic.

DeadPoked, it was nice meeting you man. I wish we would have had more time to hang out. My bad but thanks for watching my back when I was surrounded by all of those Filipinos and Filipinas. :D

Ronnie Alcano, the "can" is pronounced like KAHN, so it Al- Kahn -O as I was told by one of my buddies who lamented that the announcers kept calling hiim Al-CANE-O was a lot of fun. As soon as I saw Ronnie walk in the door (I had never met him before), I told his good friend that always seems to be nearby with the good looking friendly girl friend that Ronnie and he could get a table IMMEDIATELY if they wanted one because he played in the OPEN and all of THE BEST players get tables right away. The friend of Ronnie's looked surprised but managed a nice thank you and got a table. About 120 seconds later, I walked up to Ronnie and asked him if he wanted to play some $10 one pocket even up. He grinned and said $10?, SURE! So we went at right away with him giving me the first break. I made a few mistakes the first two games and he kept smiling and saying "EASY MONEY" in his unique voice. I just laughed with everyone else and knew my time would come. DeadPoked tried to horn in on my action but I told him that I was stuck and wanted to win two games in a row to get even and then he could play. The next game I beat Ronnie 8-1 and he twisted his head to the side and looked at me with a puzzled look. The next game wasn't that easy and I managed to win maybe 8-6 I think and he quit to go do some more socializing. We had traded quips with each other and I tried to learn a few words of his native language while we played. I also called one of my Filipino buddies, Bobby H from New Orleans and put him on the telephone with Ronnie so that they could talk in their native language for a few minutes. I was really sorry that DeadPoked didn't get a chance to play Ronnie as he was very friendly to me an it is always great to play a champion of his caliber even if you lose a few dollars. Obviously Ronnie wasn't interested in taking this pedestrian one pocket player money but did make and attempt some incredible shots which I have stored for a future day.

DeadPoked, I'll make it up to you one day.

Oh yeah, I got to meet QUITE COOL GUY, a really nice guy who would make anyone a fine body guard. :D

Sorry I didn't have a chance to meet up with the rest of the AZers who were there. I think Scott's idea about the metal Dog Tags is a good idea and will have to go find that thread again.

The tournament was GREAT. Barry Behrman put on a great show. More on that another time.

Best Regards,
JoeyA

Jay, your banking skills and one pocket prowess are legendary among players in-the-know. At the very LEAST, you should be giving poor Joey the BREAK.

I know that Joey is too proud to mention it, but I'm certain that an astute player such as you picked up on it. It would have been impossible for you miss Joey squinting at the table with that blank vacant look on his face. He's slowly losing his eyesight. It's as if the lights are going out one at a time and there's no one home. It pains me to see him in this state. Kind of like a big dark empty mansion up on hill, covered in cobwebs, with a gentle breeze blowing the neglected curtains and a For Rent sign fallen over un-noticed by those passing by.......
