When did ADAM-Japan make any cues for Dufferin? Never heard of that being done. Just because it has a butterfly butt style with a window doesn't mean Dufferin Canada had anything to with it. Lot of guessing going on here. Its either: A. A Japanese ADAM or B. A Chinese ADAM I don't think Dufferin-Can. had anything to do with it. BTW, since about '04-'05 every Dufferin and almost all ADAM cues have been Chinese built. Same factory too.
ADAM Japan never made cues for Dufferin. As far as what company made this cue- I would like to reserve judgement on that until I have the cue in hand. The speculation is that POSSIBLY, if the cue specs out in several ways to the Canadian Dufferin of similar design ( which I possess and will make an objective comparison) that Dufferin Canada - sometime between 1994 and 2004 - may have contracted with EITHER ADAM Japan or ADAM China to produce this cue ( Dufferin Canada doing the production work) for ADAM's sole distribution- it is just speculation right now - no one is making any claims at this point- just a fun topic to explore.
NO one has come forward on this site to say that they ever saw THIS ADAM cue in the past. Perhaps Dufferin Canada did initiate an agreement with either ADAM firm and perhaps the deal fell through and this was a prototype cue- wouldn't the be great

The cue case suggests a mid-90s or earlier timeframe; the variation in joint pin choice (3/8 10) and joint pin placement ( cue butt not cue shaft) from the original Canadian Dufferin butterfly cues of this design suggest either a custom conversion by the owner or a deliberate attempt by the manufacturing party ( ADAM- China or Japan) or parties ( Dufferin Canada and one of two ADAM cue companies) involved; to create a different playability function into a redesign of an established Dufferin Canada butterfly cue construction.
