Adding weight issue

I received a weight bolt kit. There was already a 3" 1.1oz weight in the cue. According to the kit I can add up to 6" of weight. So I added another 3" 1.1oz weight. Well strange thing happened. When I went to shoot and play a draw shot. The cue ball would jump over the object ball. I was stumped and tried two separate shafts with the same results. Had someone else try a draw shot with the same results. Took the weight bolt out that I added and had no issues. The cue is 18.8oz and I wanted to add a little more weight.
Anyone have any idea why this would happen? We were all stumped.

The pool cue should be comfortably light weighted instead of being heavy so that it is trouble-free for you to handle it.

There is approx. 6-7 inches of threads for weight bolts. They come in different sizes and it says on the package that you can add more than one weight bolt. I did everything right. Not new to pool and I had another player who had the same issue.

Assuming yours, and the other players' strokes were the same speed and (guessing) slightly elevated, additional mass in the cue might turn a draw stroke into a jump shot.

Lower the butt of the cue.

Wait... You're not scooping the cue ball over the object ball, are you?

If that's the case... Stop doing that.

Ok guys I am not a great player but I know how to play. It was not a stroke issue and it wasn't just my stroke. As I said. WE were stumped. It happened as explained. I have no explanation. Never experienced anything like this before. After I took the weight I added out I had no further issues. So same stroke just different weight. 1.1oz of weight.

Most weight bots come with a bolt at the end though, I guess one without it you can screw in all the way and then stick another one behind that. http://www.pro9.co.uk/html/theproshop/main.php?P=product&pid=CUEX0001 <-- can't use two of those for example.

Never seen anyone have issues with draw though with just a weight change unless they were doing something weird with the hit. For example if you dip down with the tip on draw shots instead of following straight though, the extra weight may mess you up enough to go too low.

Post a video maybe so we can see how you're hitting with the two different weights.

with more weight on the cue you can hit your draw shots a little higher and get the same amount of draw.

but you are probably adjusting(changing) your stroke with the added weight to hit the cue ball lower and jumping it.

Definitely a stroke issue. The added weight must have sxxxwed up the balance of the cue, messing with your stroke. I had a Predator bk cue that you could add huge amounts of weight to, because it was threaded extremely high up into the butt. I read at the time that Efren played with an extremely heavy cue, so I experimented with adding as long of a weight bolt as I could find. The only difference in the outcome of the strokes was that I lost a lot of feel with too much weight added, and without any bolt, the cue felt hollow. The predator is quite a forward weighted cue though, if the cue had been rear heavy, I could imagine that there could be some problems if more weight was added behind the balance point.

There are some prison jokes here that I will refrain from using.

Another example of how you can't say anything about pool without having it sound dirty out of context :grin-square:
