Shaft does not take as much english to accomplish the position. Watch the spin stay near center ball as possible.

My suggestion: Sell or give away your old shaft.

There will be a MASSIVE temptation to put it back on every time you miss a ball
that you were supposed to make. I've seen this problem over and over.

Guys end up clinging to their old shaft and switching back and forth between them every week.
They don't put in the hours learning the new shaft, and they ruin their feel for the old one.
Then their whole game goes down the toilet and they start blaming the cue for everything
and thinking "man, ever since I bought that shaft I've been miserable".

Don't put yourself through that. Pick one and stick to it.
You will adjust much faster that way and it will be 100x less frustrating.

Others have said that too. I thought I could trust myself, but...

I've been curious about this. What method do most people with LD cues use for english? From what I've read, the pivot point is too far back to effectively use a pivoting approach. But I suppose that's better than just a parallel stick method.

It also seems like people with these cues tend to prefer a rounder tip, but I could be wrong in my perception of that.

All my life I've pivoted and it's worked fine, and it continues to work fine on the LD shaft I'm using. It's never really occurred to me to stand up and reposition my body just to apply normal sidespin.

I will though if I got down on the shot and realized "wow, I'm going way out there to the side and the whole stick feels cockeyed. I better at least reposition my hands."

Honestly it feels weird to be 100% truly parallel when I line up, because then my head feels like it's in a weird spot.

Anyway, I wouldn't sweat it too much. You will find it's not all that different from using any other cue, you're just aiming along a different line.
