I don't think modern day Louisville Slugger BB bats are any better than the BB bat's of Babe Ruth's era. Wood doesn't change. It applies to cues as well.

I own and have owned quite a few vintage cues and the first thing that comes to mind when you pick one up is. "How the hell did they play with this thing". I am talking about cues such as old Hoppe's, Rambow's, Martins and so on. Half those cues were little more then clubs. I have a feeling the same would be said about ball bats. Did you ever visit Cooperstown and see some of those old bats? And forget about it tennis rackets or golf clubs. I don't think your argument would hold much water if debated among knowledgeable people on the various sports.
