Hey there guys. Firstly, thanks to each of you that makes yourselves available for answering questions. You guys provide a great resource.

Ok, I am on a limited budget here and I am going to try to install Simonis 860 on my 7 foot valley bar table. I heard that the rails were the trickiest part, so I was able to save up enough shekels to pay a professional to install the rail cloth (thanks to Greg of Steepleton's for that - good guy). I'll get the remaining cloth from him and try to put it on myself.

I've got a video that I got from a nice fellow at Valley, but I don't know if those install instructions would be good for Simonis 860, which is different from the rubber backed valley cloth.

I was able to locate the simonis staple down instruction guide, but I will obviously be gluing it instead. Speaking of the glue, is this the stuff to use? If so, I am having trouble finding it at lowe's or home depot, any suggestions, or should I just order it from that site?

Also, when they say "stretch" the cloth, how much stretching should I anticipate doing - for instance, should I anticipate streching the cloth by 5 or 6 inches, or what?

Anyway, is the stretching methodology for the glue down approach similar to streching the cloth using staples? Or should I try something else? Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance for your responses.

Sincerely,

Broke in Lexington, but wishing I could afford to just pay to have it done by a pro!

Simonis is going to install VERY different from rubber backed cloth.

You are pointed in the right direction on the glue. That's the stuff, but you won't be able to find it at your normal hardware stores. I would just order it from there if you are able to have it shipped to you.

As far as the amount of stretch and stretch pattern, I would recommend you do some searching through some of Glen's posts. That info may have been covered already. As far as volunteering that info on here, I don't know how much help you're going to get, since you're asking mostly information that is on the Simonis DVD's that are sold to mechanics.

I would personally say if you want to DIY, go for it. If you want it installed correctly, save up and have someone do it correctly. You're kind of asking for the best of both worlds asking for detailed info on how to DIY here. ;)

table

Scotch-weld, neoprene *contact adhesive* light yellow' For instructions, as josh suggested, happy searching and don't forget to scrape all the spray glue off the top, side and bottom of the slate.
There's tricks of the trade but that's only learned in the field working with bar tables over and over'

Thanks guys. I'll try to search more thoroughly through posts here. Like I said, I'd like to just pay to have it professionally done, but I'm switching jobs right now and my income is suffering. You know how that goes.

Cheers...
