Im going to be purchasing a 7ft pool table for my basement, and I want to make sure it is a good buy. Any advice from people who have bought tables? Brands to look for/ brands to avoid? Anything else, thanks alot!

You don't say how much you can/want to spend on it, but a 7' Diamond is the way to go IMO. I looks to me like your going to see more and more of them in your local poolroom too. Johnnyt

For price, quality and the best table you can buy! Spend the money on a Diamond Table. Don't look at anything else and don't listen to anyone else.

If you want to spend the least amount, but get the most for your money then buy a DIAMOND! Period, dot, end!

In addition to telling us your price range, it would also be helpful if you told us if you have a preference between commercial style and furniture style table. And are you looking for used or new?

I agree that Diamonds are great tables. In addition to Diamond, I'd also take a look at Olhausen (which is what I have) and Connelly.

I'd also spend a little extra and get an upgrade to Simonis 860 cloth.

No matter what you decide, I would suggest checking out craigslist.com.
I bought my olhausen there. I saw a myriad of tables on craigslist. If you want an inexpensive one or a high end one, one can usually find it on that website.

7 foot table

depends how much you want to spend. I think the 7' Diamond Pro/Am is the nuts!

Also, the Hortensia, Arkansas, and the Kimberly (comes in 5 different woods, including Walnut or Cherry)

As you can probably tell, I prefer tables with sturdier legs... LOL

I don't want to hijack anyones thread, but I too am looking for a table. I play on 2 APA teams and we have Diamonds in our bar and the other bars are starting to get them.

I really want a Diamond BUT.... There is no way in hell I could get a 1 piece slate into my basement. What would be the best 3 piece I could get?

Do the other Diamond models play different then the PRO/AM? You can save over a thousand dollars if you decide to go with the Kimberly or the Tiffany over the Pro/am.

Stairs to go into the basement. I have one of those staircases that do a 180. You open the door, walk down about 5 stairs and turn 180 and walk down the rest of the way. Plus the ceiling in the staircase is only 6' ft high.

Well I guess your going to have to splurge, get the 9' Diamond Pro it has a 3 peice slate, as opposed to the Pro-Am's 1 peice.

I've had mine 3 years now wouldn't have it any other way.

For the original poster, if you can fit it in the space get the 9' ft. Otherwise the 7ft. Pro-Am is the way to go.

Good luck and Shooting. Black Cat

No matter what you get I'd stay away from one piece slate tables, like the bar boxes. Three piece slate would be ideal. Make sure someone who knows what they are doing does the install.

I have to get a 7', there are to many obstacles in the basement for anything bigger.

Was wondering if there are any good 7' 3 pieces out there. I was looking online, and didn't see any big table names I knew. Everything was custom, looked like the business or person actually hand built the table.

Why are 1 piece slate not good?

Are there 3 piece slate tables in 7 ft?

Also I am looking to spend around 1200$
