Advice on making an online straightpool video

The best advice I can offer is: on the internet no one knows you're a dog.

Don't be afraid of what others think. There will always be critics, because they can't do anything else. For every critic there will be 100 people who appreciate your project.

Go for it.
 
That sounds like a great project and helpful for a lot of people who want to learn the game without having to figure out the rules on their own. Keeping things simple is probably a good idea as there are so many subleties to the game. Or maybe you could split up the video into several parts, one for rules, and others for basic strategy, breakshots, safeties, etc. Information on how to keep the score correctly would be helpful for new players as well.

I doubt anyone on here is going to give you flack for taking time to produce a video to help other players. If it happens on youtube for some reason, I'd just disable the commenting on the video.

Whatever you decide to do, I wish you good luck and look forward to seeing it.
