After eight months with CTE

That was an EXCEPTIONAL report on your experience with CTE/Pro One.

It was fun reading what others experience with this accurate and effective method of aiming.

Like you, I had initial struggle but now it is seamless, especially the Pro One part of Stan Shuffett's CTE/Pro On.

Thanks again.

Nice blog!

I've been using CTE/Pro1 about the same timeframe and my experiences were similar. There was initial confusion with the DVD, which was quickly put to rest thanks to all of the great info I found on here, or received from members, or from Stan himself. Then the initial learning, followed by figuring out when to use which aim point/pivot, then integrating the Pro1 pivots into the mix.

It's all very seamless now, on most shots I doubt anyone would even know what I was doing since I don't think it's real obvious what I'm looking at and the pivots are done on the way down to the shot. The whole process is just as quick as it was before when I would just stand behind the line of the shot and aim my old way. I find for certain angles, or long shots, it does help to stare a bit longer, or get down on the shot more at eye level to pick out the lines, and even then it doesn't feel weird or anything. And I still feel like I keep getting better at picking up the visuals more and more naturally. If I played more than 4 - 6 hours a week I'm sure this whole process would have been vastly shortened as well.

I've also transitioned to using BHE on most of my shots when adjusting for english, something I did more by feel before. Switching shafts has screwed me up recently in this department, but I'm getting through that now. I feel like I can aim center ball and then make whatever adjustment I need for CIT, position, etc. in a very systematic way while still allowing my 20 years of experience to supplement that and make tweaks as necessary for certain speeds/spins. That's taken a while, at first I trusted the system too much, then not enough, and now there's a nice blend where my eyes will usually tell me if I'm not quite lined up right, or made a bad pivot/move down to the ball, etc. Now if I can only learn to get back up instead of fidgeting on the shot once down I'll probably make even more shots... :)

Thanks again for the post! I liked your spot system info too, especially for kicks, I mention that quite a bit in the articles I've done on kicking, it's a powerful tool for making adjustments when not on the ideal line.

I wish now that I would have not taken private lessons ( cost more than a DVD ).
Because I thought I had something most other players did not have cte/pro1. It kind off makes me mad now that u can just get the info now free of charge.
At times now I just want to quit because of it. Meaning I think that is what made pool great is the good players had the info , but kept it to themselves or close friends and now everybody is selling their info.
Stan is a great guy and friend but I wish he would kept thar info to private lessons

I dont want to start an aiming argument just ask a question. How does cte work when you only have half a pocket to shoot at as when blocked by another ball? Honest question as i have never tried it.

Pivot to center to lock-in center pocket and then adjust accordingly (from the center of the pocket outwards).

Just to add to that: CTE is not unlike other aiming systems, in that it merely gets you to a line that is center of the pocket. From there you must make your own adjustments for spin, throw, blocked pockets, cue ball position, etc. So use CTE to find the center pocket shot, then blend in your adjustments. CTE helps minimize the adjustments you make by starting you out at center pocket.

Very good, very good!!

Another great thing about the CTE line... you can use it immediately for long straight-in shots, or hitting the head ball on the rack square. This doesn't take months of practice, but maybe minutes. Give this a try:

Setup a long straight-in shot. Site the center of the cue ball to the right edge of the object ball. Line up your eyes/head/body on that line. Slide your cue straight into this line with the left-side of the ferrule on this line. This should result in a half-tip offset on the cue ball. Now pivot the cue to center cue ball. The pivot is very slight, do not try to exaggerate it! The shot is now lined up. Take a couple of warm up strokes and fire. The object ball should hit the back of the pocket, and the cue ball should stop dead in its tracks. Typical english applies (maybe a hair of bottom english to make the ball stop.)

Now try a break shot. Line up on the head ball the same way. You should shatter that rack and the cue ball will come straight back at you a couple of inches.

You can use the left-side of the object ball if you wish, just reverse the ferrule and pivot.

Talk about a quick fix for long straight-in shots :)

i said this before the dvd came out and many times after lol so easy to do but certain people spamming the cte threads soooooooo negativity! the answers would always get pushed aside!

I have been told by people in my room that my game has jumped up a lot. Without telling them ( those that don't care to know ) that my Pro ONE studies have been the difference. Yesterday I asked a guy to play and after running only a couple racks he quit . Telling me " he was not there to watch me play" and walked off. What a great compliment.
I am happy to see that I am not the only one..but I never expected to be.
Thanks again Stan !

I would have to respectfully disagree with this. There is more to it than simply having the info. Yes, knowing these techniques can make the average guy a much better player but, there is still that human factor unique to each individual. No matter how many techniques you learn, you probably won't be taking on Efren Reyes anytime soon nor will you achieve the legendary skillset of Willie Mosconi. In any sport, there will be methods taught that will help but, no amount of basketball lessons will make you into the next Michael Jordan unless you have that special something that sets you apart. Personally, I'm thankful for all the information that's out there so, a game can become more enjoyable than it might have been before simply because now it can be played better which leads to a desire to play and in the end, I play because it's fun.
