I was driving locally when revving the engine and trying to blow it up after the race got popular. Local drivers saw the big boys doing it, soon they were too. Usually my car and my engine so I stopped at the finish line to get the checkered flag and make a sedate lap around the track toting it. OK, maybe I did take the flag around the track pretty quickly but I didn't get too carried away. It takes three hands to hold a flag, a steering wheel, and shift the car.
I can't help picturing my old pool hall owner, a big man with a stick behind the bar that would do Buford Pusser proud. I suspect had you jumped on one of his tables he would have taken you down at the knees with that fencepost sized club! Been a few years but the last time I saw them jumping on the table after the Mosconi Cup it looked very staged. Looked like a bunch of seven year old girls trying to hold hands and jump at the same time too. I think I would have to beg off with a toothache in my heel!
Jumping up and down on slate just seems dumb. I noticed Shane didn't seem real keen on it either. First time I saw somebody jump on the table was Earl and he was by himself. It didn't look preplanned and it did seem kinda cool that he got that excited. Now it is like the second or third person doing the same party trick, blah.
