Put the cue ball on the 4 ball spot on a snooker table and cut the 5 ball, resting on the 5 ball spot, into either side pocket. Is this 90 degrees and can it be done?
 
Hard to say it CAN'T be done! But it would be tough.....nevermind! I thought he said from the D. I agree with who ever said it can't be done.....lol!
 
I'd have to try it before I'd say it can't be done. I don't play snooker a lot but I have played on both 5X10's and 6X12's. I know it's a tough cut but I'd still like to try it before I made the bold statement that it can't be done. We've all seen people do some mighty strange things in this game.
 
Not from the 4 ball spot.............that is a god bit over 90 degrees at the actual line. I use to play snooker alot and I don't think that shot is possible. At least on a 12'..............10' with big pockets......you would have to see the table. But I still say it can't be done. I have seen a guy shot the 5 ball on the spot.......with the cue ball jawed up in the pocket, and make the 5 straight in the other corner. Drawing the cue ball back into the pocket he shot it from. ONE HANDED!:eek: ON A 12 FOOTER EVEN!:eek:

You're making my point. You're telling me that someone did something that is unbelievable to me yet you saw it done. You have to be careful when you say something can't be done in this game! That's my point!

I'm not going to debate whether the shot can be made at all, but the angle would be 93 degrees. It can't be made with a center-ball hit on the CB tho.

Dimensions are in meters, and are for cushion nose to cushion nose. Length is 3.582m (11' 8" approx), Width is 1.796m (5' 10-3/4" approx). Baulk line is 737mm (29 inches) from cushion, arc is 292mm radius (11.5 inches). 7 spot is 324mm (12.75) inches from end rail.

Arrr...I see there is another fan of AutoCAD in this form. Been using it for 10 years, and can't imagine life without it. Great for all sorts of things, including pool. Good use of talent. :D

For those seeking CAD programs that can't afford AutoCAD, you may want to check out a product called DesignCAD. I used this at my company when I first got hired (and until I got it all converted to ACAD), and it's okay. And a heckuva lot cheaper!! Their express version is $49.95 compared to ACAD LT at $600+ (or the full version at $3000+).

I won't say it CAN"T be done..........I just say I don't THINK it can be done. lol..........is there a difference. As for the one handed shot...............DON'T WORRY....I lost money on it LOL! Along with a few more people. The guy said he could do it......and I said he was full a sheet! Hell I can't do it 2 handed on that 12' table he did it on.
 
How about this.....Danny Greer! I think that is how his last name is spelled. He was a coin pitching Champion. He said he could throw a quarter in a pay phone from 10' away! Into the coin slot not much bigger than the quarter. I think he was lying about that but he did say he could do it.....for 500! And I did see him pitch a quarter from 12' on to a hard wood stool and kill it.
 
mungtor is right. you would actually have to move the CB over so that its contact point is 90 degrees to the contact point of the OB. in other words, you have to move the CB over one ball's width.
 
Yeah.......if you could shoot it out of the D, then yes you can make the shot. But I don't THINK! it can be done fron the 4 spot! LOL

cut 90- degrees

Here is a cut I have seen and it went down. I bought several of Fast Larry's trick shot tapes. He was on a 6x12" english snooker table with english balls. He had the cue ball on the D, on the far left spot, I think that is the 2 spot. He had the black on its spot and he cut that black in the lower left hand pocket. That is the damnest cut I have ever seen, somebody tell me what degee of cut that one was. What made that shot so hard is it was a 10' cut shot, and it looked over 90 degrees.

If you don't believe me, run the guy down and get the tape, there is other stuff on there more un believable than that one.
 
I have seen that done.....the 7 ball spot from the D. Oh yeah the guy that shoots that one handed shot....reads the posts here. And has posted a few times.

Someone has already measured that one accurately to 79 degrees. Far left on the D is actually the 3 spot. It is a bit of an optical illusion that it is more than 90.

It would be hard to pull off, you would need a perfect stroke.

These kind of illusions are the reasons so many people think you can cut 90 degrees, the myth needs to be debunked.
