move this, now shoot there. I don't know about all this aiming system stuff. I just got done reading the CTE info to me it sure scemed like a lot of this and that.

Sounded to me pretty much like fractional aiming done the hard way. I think it is much easyer to recognize a angle and know that angle is this much of OB aim. shoot the ball down that line.

When it comes to english, well I think you have to hit balls till your arm falls off to learn how much squirt, and swerve you need to allow for...

of course we all know Im probably wrong even if Im right but in this case its really "just how I see it":

I think you're more right than wrong.

I had seen some of the posts regarding CTE and did spend about 10 minutes on a table exploring it and quickly decided my "feel" for an angle, especially when applying some english was much more acceptable to my brain functions. I guess I do think about a mix of ghost ball/fractional aiming when lining up a shot at times but after all these years of playing it's more feel/experience than anything.

But maybe that's why I'm still just a hack. :o

no you ain't crazy brother....

Thats dam right, aint no aiming method is going to take a 4speed and make them an 8. You have to hit balls! You have to learn to feel whats going on. Once you got a good feel for the game all around, then all the little extra aiming techniques can be added to your bag for special application. Besides that just stay away from back hand english and your going to learn quicker. I will say this the only reason I'm not a national class or world class player is my mental level...I miss because I didn't give enough creedence to the shot, I didn't have my head in the game enough. Pool is more about controling your mind than seeing some CTE, 1/16 ball tricky dick aiming method. There should be more threads on how to aim your brain than how to aim your shot. ITs not our aiming methods that make us DOG shots...its our mental attitude and concentration.

Here is my system for improving my pocketing of balls........4-5 hours a day at least 4 days a week of just pocketing balls.

You must tell yourself after every miss whether you overcut or undercut and remember to make an adjustment. Then when you get better you must tell yourself after every shot you pocket whether you made it in the right or left side of the pocket and make more tiny adjustments. Memory is key here.

The absolute most important thing to a novice is that they are getting the cueball where they are aiming and not hitting too hard. Speed kills.
