If you have ever wondered what the cut angle was for a particular shot and you don't know 45 degrees from a 30 degree cut, you may want to visit www.cuetable.com and click on the AIMING CALCULATOR. You have the ability to move the object ball anywhere on the table as well as the cue ball.

What I especially like is at the bottom of the cuetable aiming calculator page which shows the portions of the object ball and the cue ball that you should be looking at when you are aiming the shot. As you change the angle of the cut, the object ball and the cue ball eclipse one another to give you a good idea of what you should be seeing when you are aiming.

Also, you can line up a spot shot and position the cue ball and your cue in a particular spot and then know where to aim the cue ball, (aiming past the object ball- a technique that some players use to cut balls).

Anyway, Wei Chao has made some great improvements with the cuetable. It is one of the most incredible pool inventions of this decade. I look forward to exploring some of cuetable's other capabilities that I haven't touched.

You should get familiar with the web site, the features of the program. It's all free. There are tutorials on the site. And you can ask any AZer a question about the CUETABLE and get the answer you need.

The program is getting easier and easier to use. I still haven't used the CURVED arrows enough to show some of the fancy stuff. I would like to see some of the 3 cushion guys using the curved arrows to show the patch of the cue ball on some of their fancy shots.

Anyway, check out the aiming calculator. It's worth the trip alone and it can improve your pool game.

Excellent application.

I've been playing around with setting up shots today on the cuetable and then going over to my actual table and practicing. It's amazing how accurate you can be once you see the true angle, CB-OB overlap. The tough shots are the ones that are close together with a greater than 45 cut angle. Recognizing the overlap is key.

Here's a fun thing you can do with it: measure the angles for the main "ball fractions" aim alignments. In this diagram angles 1-4 are cuts to the right at 1/4 ball (14.5 degrees), 1/2 ball (30 degrees), 3/4 ball (48.5 degrees) and 7/8 ball (61 degrees). Angles 5-8 are the same cuts to the left.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I think its so kool. I had been trying similar things on my CAD system but this cuetable package is slick. Randy Kukla has a book on aiming that describes various systems and he has a table in the book for shots anywhere on the table, cue location and type of hit required. its a lot of information but I learned the simple spot shot from this book and rarely miss one now.

I had some fun with it as well, but it doesnt work for banks, At least it didnt for me, but it is very useful in helping you remember half ball hits in perticular.. Id study this, over and over to imprint some shots/angles into your game.. Other than the actual cue table, nothing IMHO is more helpful...
