Aiming Forum?

I was dead serious. I can understand that some geometrical relationship between the balls and the pockets could exist to where an aiming point could be easily determined using some system that exploits that relationship. However, in the case of combinations, unlike pockets which are always in the same spot, the secondary target (the second ball in the combination), is not always in the same spot. It could be anywhere on the table.

Well then...my above offer is available...

However....(If I understand what you are looking for)....I don't think the method I use is going to fit the type of method you reference...and I really don't think it exists....(like you describe)

Chances are (I hope) you already are doing something similar to what I do...(If not I need to re-analyze what the heck I am doing)

LOL...Now that I think about this...it really is kind of comical that a borderline banger...(me) would be offering up methods to a borderline pro...(jimmy).........This whole situation needs to be turned around...:)

Ok...Im done

Man, I want a forum for my backache. :embarrassed2:

All right, I get it. No new forums. But I think many great new ideas have been shared here on these forums, and they just get lost. Aiming is so fundamental to billiard sports that I think it would do everyone a service to keep it in its own separate forum.

As for the fatal flaw in my description of Hal's system, if there was a fatal flaw in my description, there was a fatal flaw in Hal's description to me, and Dave SpiderWebComm's confirmation of Hal's description to me when I was confused why it didn't work.

Basically, what you're saying is that by calling Hal or driving, or flying, or pole vaulting to see Hal, you are still going to have this fatal flaw that keeps the system from working. What an endorsement. Anyone ready to call Hal now? He's the one to get the info from. No one else can tell you anything.

I'm afraid to ask for fear of the "call Hal" answer, but it's much easier for me to ask here than to get away for a lengthy phone call while at work, so I'm going to ask ... what is the fatal flaw in his post?

Also, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask or not but, with the multitude of aiming-system posts, I guess this is as good as any ... how do you aim combinations using a system?

Jimmy, I would never give you the pat answer, only certain people who ask the same thing over and over with no intention of calling Hal.

The fatal flaw in his description was:
"Once your center-to-edge sighting is aligned, place the bridge and cue to one side of center cueball."

Koop

P.S. With or without an aiming system...you'd kick my ass on the table

Jeff, in all seriousness, why don't you either create your own aiming system or stop bringing Hal up in your posts. If they don't work for you then so be it. I am coming to realize that some of you just like to try and poke holes in things without ever actually having to create something yourself.

I think a good start would be something with huge equations in it so that you and the other smarty pants  can understand it.

I'm not trying to poke holes in his system. The system has holes already, and I'm just trying to help find those holes, so they can be avoided. But I also think it's a good method for helping to find your aim by feel. I'm not against it. I'm only against saying that it's adjustment free.
