Anyone ever use one of those?

I guy was struggling to use one last night on the BB at a local place....

My friend came and got me to give the guy some help and demonstrate how to use a jump cue...

I set up a really easy jump shot and get crap lol.....

I could not get that thing to get the ball air borne for nothing...its WAYYYYY to light....i jump just fine with the predator air and have heard complaints about it...but that air hog is just garbage imop.

I grabbed my cue and just jumped with it lol....i was really shocked at how BAD that jump cue was...

has anyone else used one of those things?

cue preferance is always going to be a subjective topic. you'll find just as many opions on jump cues as regular cues or break cues. everyone has thier different preferances.

as far as the lucasi air hog, i've never used one, but light doesnt necesaraly translate to not good. i've always liked light. takes me back to the old days of shaft jumping. the jester is super light also and while i did have a hard time picking up the rock with a regular pengelum stroke, it was crazy easy to jump from a chalk width away with a dart stroke.

predator air is a pretty good jumper also, though i just sold mine. i've always had a hard time with unwanted side spin being imparted. but now i have a fury j/b that jumps better than either with a pendulum stroke with no unwanted side spin, although its not so hot using a dart stroke.

Hussa,

"side spin" for sure will not be caused by the jump-cue my friend-- if there is unwanted side-spin the problem is always the player :)

The previous jump cue was easier to jump with because it was heavier but it was harder to control, the Air Hog is lighter therefore takes more effort to get over a ball. Like "socks" said it's a lot of preference just like lighter or heavier cues/ break cues, different people do better with different equipment.

sorry to the original poster that we are getting off topic, but...

yes, i do realize its mostly in my stroke, but to to say the cue features have no effect is complete bologne. different tips, ferrules, tapers, and weights will grab and deflect differently which will pronounce differently on the cue ball, especially dealing with jump shots where you are squeezing an object between 2 other objects to create the desired result.

I have a J/B cue and when I jump with it, it's fairly easy. Then I tried a Predator Air I was thinking about buying... and could hardly get the thing off the table. The lack of weight in the cue means you're going to swing it harder to get the same action on the CB... although once I figured that out - and that i could hit a little higher on the CB - got me going pretty good. it's going to take some real practice to feel comfortable with it though. I expect all of the super light-weight jumpers are the same in that regard.
