Alaska State AZB 14.1 Championship

A few days ago SJM made a post about meeting CollegeDave at Amsterdam Billiards. Efren’s partner mentioned we should post scores of such matchups which I happen to think is a good idea.

I have decided to start the ball rolling and see if we can get an AZB Alaska State 14.1 Championship. Of course for it to be a true Open Championship it will be by invitation only:rolleyes: .

Since I know of only three AZBers in Anchorage (sodapopd, CaptiveBreed and me) and have sent them invitations. If there are any lurkers I don’t know about or someone I missed that would like to come down to the Palace this week and sort this out let me know.

If no one accepts the invitation I will gladly claim the title of AZB Alaska State 14.1 champ (I think there is precedence for this). We will post scores and high runs.

The rest of ya’ll feel free to follow suit.

breakup,
Cool (pun intended). Let us know how it goes.

First prize should be a trip to Fairbanks.

Second prize should be 2 trips to Fairbanks, etc., etc., etc.

Looks like I won't win by default though. sodapopd just weighed in I don't like my chances already.

I like the prize breakdown very appropriate

The only pool players I know in AK are Harry Robinson, Aileen Pippen and Sabrina. Not sure if any of them play straight pool, and I don't think they post on AZB, so you may get the title by default. :p

 How could you forget Sean "Tony" Azares ?

He's here but I'm pretty sure he does not post on AZ.;) I just want to get the posters together. Tony does however have a very strong game.

Sodapapd and myself will square off tonight at the Anchorage Billiard Palace to determine the Alaska AZB 14.1 Championship. After the Championship is decided the winner will make the title available for challenge to anyone with 50 or more posts on AZB. The possibility exists for future 8 ball, 9 ball and one pocket divisions.

The “Rumba on the Tundra” will start between 5:30 and 6:00 PM AST (tickets will not be available at the door)

For your convenience I have checked the Alaska Airlines schedule from Seattle this afternoon there are some good deals. It is a quick 3 ½ hour flight from Seattle to Anchorage, so plan accordingly. The Billiard Palace is a 5 min drive from the Airport.

Suggestions

The loser of the match has to go find the 'Eight below' dogs and rescue them.

And how cool would it be to have 'railbird' wallpaper like your Jessica picture for your home Poolroom? ... lol you could have a modern setting or an oldtime Pool room setting for the wallpaper? Gee, you could have Irving Crane sitting in his chair watching you run out .... ROFL

breakup,
I am unfortunately not going to be able to make it to this epic event. Please keep us posted as to when it will be televised, I'll make it a point to watch then ( I think it will be on in about 3 months from...........NEVER).

I would definitely like to challenge the winner, but you'll have to come to Indy as there is NO FREAKING WAY YOU WILL GET ME TO ALASKA (I saw that "Grizzlyman" movie where the guy and his girlfriend get consumed by a bear).

Due to circumstances beyond my control this match will never be televised. We have just had too much problem with bootleg copies, so it’s either live or nothing.

Sorry to hear you won’t be able to make this event. I was saving you a front row seat next to Jessica. I would be happy to accept a challenge at a later date however I must bring to your attention the following guidance for internet matching up.

In accordance with internationally accepted internet rules for State and Regional Championships the title cannot be claimed by a challenger if the contest takes place outside the geographical location for which the title is named.

I don't make the rules I just follow them

It fairly pricey but you can have almost anything made into wallpaper.
If I am ever fortunate to have a nice home room there are a few pictures
that I want to make into wallpaper or some type of mural. There
is a picture from Johnson City that is really good of all the players in bleachers. Its one of my favorite pool pics.

Ok the recap of last nights match.

Sodapopd 150 high run 28
Breakup 83 (unwitnessed 26 in practice before the match)

Sodapopd is the Alaska AZB 14.1 Champ

…I’ll be back.

(I thought I heard somewhere the next tour stop is Indianapolis?)

On another note to change the subject, the Fur Rondy (winter carnival) annual tournaments are getting underway this weekend in Anchorage. Throughout the next two weeks there are:

8-ball intermediate, race to 4
9-ball intermediate, race to 4
Women’s 8-ball, race to 3
One pocket, race to 3
Open 8-ball, race to 5
Open 9-ball, race to 7
Bank pool (short rack), race to 3
Women’s 9-ball, race to 4
Dutch doubles, race to 3

The intermediate tourneys usually fill at or near 128 so there usually is a good turnout.

And the reason you two played on Valentine's Day was because....? ;)

Guess that explains Jessica. LOL

Also, it was nice of you to work around other tours and tournaments when you scheduled your championship. <chortle>
