6:30 PM, Ouschan vs Dechaine
Albin Ouschan, the reigning silver medalist at the World 9-ball championships, and the #6 ranked player in the world, has to be favored slightly on paper over America's Mike Dechaine, but the game's not played on paper. Should be a good one but, hey, you never know with players of this caliber.

I've seen Albin play just once before on stream in the WPA World 9-ball Championships, and twice paired with Mario He in Austria's impressive run to the semis of the World Cup of Pool. OVerall, though, I don't know his game well. Obviously, I've seen American based Mike Dechaine on many occasions.

Warmups are nearly complete.

OK, here we go. Production guys getting ready and Scott Smith now introducing the players.

Albin wins the lag by a millimeter. Breaks dry but leaves just a bank, let's see if Mike plays it. Chooses the safe, and plays it well, a decision approved of by commentator Mark Wilson.

Albin has to jump, makes a good hit but fouls. Layout looks unrunnable, but we shall see.

Dechaine makes one and two and plays nice safety on the three.

Nice kick by Albin, but Mike makes difficult shot on three and makes difficult shape onto four ball. Should be out.

Mike makes the one ball on the break. No hot on two, plays safe.. Albin not up to the masse, but Dechaine has to play safe. Plays it well. Ouschan misses jump in of two but flukes a safety. Mike fails to jump in the two, and now Albin has a chance.

Albin position error forces him to bank the four but he makes it. Tough shot from the five to the six. Albin misses and scratches. Dechaine should be out .... and he is.

Mark Wilson suggested that Albin should not have played the bank, and I agree, as a good safety was available.

Mike 2 Albin 0

Once again, Mike makes a ball on the break but has no shot on the two. Tries a safety and hits it poorly. Albin jaws the two in the corner. Leaves it safe, but Mike gets the roll back, failing to kick the two in but getting a fortunate snooker. Safety battle in progress.

Perfect safe by Mike and Albin has to jump again. Misses, but gets fortunate, so we're still in a safety battle. Great safe by Albin but Mike jumps in the two-five combo, then plays a good safe. Paper thin cut by Albin earns him a run out chance.

Mike misses a long tough two ball and sells out. Albin runs out.

We're tied at 2-2.

Albin breaks wet and plays a perfect safety. Mike takes a foul to reposition the three. Albin misplays the safety, but flukes both a ball and the shape. Runs up to the six, makes a great six ball, but this time the pool gods make him pay as he scratches. Freaky rack!

Mike 3 Albin 2

For third straight time, Mike breaks wet but has no easy shot. Pro side miss on two starts a safety battle. Nice kick by Albin leaves Mike a long hard two ball. Mike makes a long, near impossible combo on the nine, while ducking the cue ball behind the seven. Arguably the best shot of the week on the TV table so far.

Mike 4 Albin 2

For the first time, Mike breaks wet and has a good look at a runout. Let's see if he's up to it.
