They have updated the brackets.

winners side:

Alcano over Slivka 11-1

Broxson over Schmidt 11-4

Luat over Appleton 11-?

Bryant over Braymore 11-?

losers side:

Lee van Cortezza over MCcreesh 11-?

Cortezza, Gabica, and Valle are still alive on the losers side...Alcano and Luat are going strong on the winners side.

Wouldn't it say something if the Filipinos go 1-2-3 like last year, but this time with their 2nd-3rd string players?

Though, still a long way to go in this tourney.

Gabica and Valle

Results have not been updated yet for Gabica and Valle so we do not know if they are still alive in the loser's side. The matches should have been finished by now. Do you have information if they won their respective games already?

Anyone know how Jason Klatt is doing against Immonen? I'm hoping he can keep it going. Erik Hjorleifson went as far as 9-12 two years ago and I'd love to see a similar showing from this kid from Winnipeg as well. He is one to keep an eye on in the future. He recently won the Canadian 8-ball championships, and has already done well at the Open. It's strange to think that just a few years ago I always went easy on him, cuz I felt bad for beating a little kid. lol Now I'd get my butt handed to me by this guy.

van van beat mccreesh 11 to 1... then later tonight at q-masters ran over kuo for 2000. the guy is sick...

Here are the Filipino updates:

Rodolfo "Boy Samson" Luat won again, this time against
Englishman Darren Appleton. The score was 11 games to 7. Up next for Luat
is Charlie Bryant, who won over Trevor Baymore, 11 games to 8.

Ronnie "The Volcano" Alcano slaughtered Jerry Slivka, 11 games to 1. Ronnie
will face former US Open champion Gabe Owen, who won a hill-hill match
against Corey Deuel.

The Winners' bracket have only 8 players left, with Troy Frank, Robb Saez,
David Broxon and CJ Wiley, who upset Earl Strickland, 11 games to 3 in one
of the 5th round action, completing the last 8.

The left side of the bracket saw Santos Sambajon Jr. ended his run as he
lost to Tony Robles, 11 games to 7.

Lee Van "Van-Van" Corteza kept his hopes alive as he scored 3 consecutive
wins in a row. He beat Shane Van Boening (11-10), Charles Altomare (11-
4) and Ryan McCreesh (11-1). Up next for Corteza is the Iceman himself,
Mika Immonen.

Antonio "Gaga" Gabica chalked up his 6th win in a row in the Losers' bracket,
this time against Rick Howard, 11 games to 5. He will be up against Shawn
Putnam in the next round.

Gandy "Yang-Yang" Valle scored another upset as he beat 2004 WPC runner-
up Po Cheng Kuo, 11 games to 4. He will face Pagulayan's tormentor Stevie
Moore in the next round.

Lee Van Cortezza appears to be the next Marlon Manalo and Dennis Orcollo. This is his very first tournament in the USA and yet he is doing excellent after the preliminary rounds jitters. Who are they going to come up with next year?

The Philippines has such a deep bench that even though the top guns are not present, their 2nd to 3rd rate players are at par or even better than the other top ranked players from the rest of the world.

That is why I have always said that the Filipinos are stronger than the Taiwanese. Aside from Chao, all the rest like Kuo, Chang, Yang and even the current world champion WU are only good when they are battling in their home yard.

I hate to rub it in to Ryan, but he made fun of Kuo for losing 11-4 to Slivka. Now Ryan loses 11-1. Hmmm....
