it was a pity that he came over when there were several big events involving most of the national players going on that same week.

at the pool hall i was at, most of their top guys just played him to experience playing with the world champ. although they all lost, i'm sure they walked away with valuable experience and insights.

perhaps when he comes down again next week or for the tour, some of them would fancy a shot at it again.

I understand why they are afraid to play Jharome Pena too... I have seen him play flawless...

Funny story: Pena and Roberto Gomez where in each semifinal, facing two of the most well-known and best English poolplayers in a 9-ball tournament I organized.

The pricemoney was originally 4 000 € (about 5 500 $) winner takes all, and the English guys were trying to negotiate with the Filipinos to agree on a deal to split the money so all 4 would get some.

Gomez answered them nicely while laughing: "Perhaps If it was 8-ball, maybe, but 9-ball??? No way, that's our game! We win!"

Gomez ended up beating Jharome Pena 9-5 in the final

I was actually looking forward to watch KK play with Jherome or Ronnie as among all the Singapore players, it's KK I'm most impressed with.. too bad it didn't materialize.. let's see if something will be worked out in the upcoming guinness stop..

Now that's just SAD. And I'm disappointed KK didn't even want a run....I thought he was poised to be the action king in Singapore.

Definitely his visit won't be publicized since he was looking for money matches. I doubt Guinness will appreciate any publicity involving Ronnie gambling.

One of the guys at the pool hall actually told me on friday night that a match has already been setup for the following night at 10pm.. but somehow the plans fell through.. probably because of the commitments of the players.

Definitely it is possible that the time will come when the tables are turned.. but until the players here starts playing against world class players, their improvement won't be as quick especially for the top players as there is not much competition anymore for them in Singapore..

First of all. Pool players, be they professional or not are really not as rich as you think they are. They would certainly not like to throw away money if they think that the odds are stacked up against them.

Moreover his visit to that pool hall was not a publicized event. I didnt even know that he was going to be there as neither did many people. I would have certainly throw him a couple of 50s to have a shot at him.

Further more, last weekend was a busy one with the national finals and KK was going to be playing in the finals of an 8 ball team event. I think it would be most irresponsible of him to be putting his focus on anywhere but the team event as he is also the captain of the team.

Finally, i do not know which day those guys turn up at that pool hall but if I read the promotional posters correctly, any money get that is going to occur would have to be after Alcano has finish with his promotional duties which would be past midnight.

Our national players are people too. Some could hardly hang on to a decent job. Alot of sacrificed has to be made. Spending almost all the time and money that they have just trying to make it work.

So i say. if they really think they could not afford to lose then just walk away from it. There is really no shame in admitting that you are not good enough yet. There will come a time when the tables will be turned.

This is exactly why I want to see the top players here play Ronnie.. to learn and gain more experience playing top players in the world..

Ronnie, Alex and Gomez was at the local pool hall earlier. Finally a match between KK and Ronnie was setup. Not sure about the total amount on the line but my friends got in for 800 for Ronnie in a race to 13 giving only 1 rack to KK on tight pockets. Final score was 13-10 if I remembered correctly. Will be back tom if the scheduled matches with the taiwanese pushes through. Alex is a blast! It was my first time meeting him and he really got a great personality. And did I also mentioned that he got game?
