Alex was on his way to winning the DCC ring game with a fairly simple run out, but dogs a 5 ball for the cheese. Corey came back, but let Alex back at the table. Alex scratches off the 7 trying to get shape on the 8, Corey runs the 8,9,and 10 for $30,000. I bet Alex will have a little trouble getting to sleep tonight. It was fun to watch on BCN. I'll be headed to Louisville Sunday evening.
 
Boy, Alex sure did dog it. The description above is kind of a condensed version. Alex missed that 5 ball and let Corey win that rack. A couple racks later it was Corey with the lead and Alex on the bubble. Alex was running out that rack and made the 8-ball but scratched in the side.

It just seems like Alex's loses concentration at the crux point of a tourney. If he can get over this problem, he could very well be one of the top players alive. But he has to get over this hurdle.

Tell y'all one thing. The carryin' on between Jim and Danny was worth the 9.95. They was a hoot!

the commentating was funny as hell....and well worth the $9.95 ....even thought I only caught the last 3 hours of the ring game. I hope those 2 get together to do the 9 ball.
 
Unfortunate for Alex but a much needed win for Corey, it's been a while for him and this should do wonders for his confidence.

Oh yeah, if I was Alex I wouldn't sleep for a week:(

must be a habit. i saw the match between him and rodney in hawai'i, and alex missed some amazingly easy shots,,,,,three times. he still won the match though.
 
Alex really needs to find this 'inner dog' that he has and get rid of it.

A couple years ago, it was Mika that had a habit of dogging matches in the finals. Now it appears to be Alex. The good news for Alex is that Mika has proven it can be dealt with.

yeah that sucks....he dogged it alot.
I really wanted him to win.

So true Mike. Alex was on the hill 3 times. The last 2 times he is serving, DOUBLE MATCH POINT, and dogs it.

I too broke a cardinal rule Mike. I started counting MY money with him breaking, needing only to win one of the next 2 games. I don't even know what odds he went off at. I just got a friend to make a bet for me. Do you know what he went off at Mike?

If i remember correctly Alex went off around 2.5 to 1 but dont quote me on that.Yeah i was there is person you could feel the momentum changed when Alex missed that five ball.Cory was my horse so i was content at the pay window.He went off at 3.8 to 1.
Rumor is there may be another ring game before the week is over.

Knowing, as you say it is rumor, is the rumor going to be televised?

Not sure how if theres any rumors about the rumor(if the rumor come to be truth) being televised.But if i hear any rumors I will try to get it back to you but I dont have a laptop with me.I hear a rumor that theres some fellow Azbilliards posters there with one.So maybe i can find them. Plus ill be busying taking down the 1-hole.(yeah right :D )

I overheard Scott Smith ( the tournament director) announcing that they were indeed trying to get another ring game rolling. This time the players will be posting $5000 out of their own pocket! In the first game, the players were all sponsored so it should be a lot more suspensful if the guys are forking over their own cash!
 
Word has been received that the Ring Game is on for tonight at 8pm not sure if it is televised but the players are
Alex, Corey ,Efren, Shannon Daulton, JohnnyArcher and either Keith or Ralf.
Not sure if this is their own money or sponser money
 
Sorry, Not sure if this goes under a different thread, but how is the sponser money work? Does the player see any of it?
 
It was up the the individual sponsors how the money would be cut up if their player won the ring game. I know of at least one sponsor (whose players did not win) that was going to give half to the player.

I don't remember exactly which companies sponsored which players but I do know that Corey was sponsored by the Seminole Tribe and Earl was sponsored by Limbsaver. I would imagine that Charlie was one of the two players that Predator put in.

Slim, I think the only time you will ever see any of these guys take $5K out of their personal stash is if they are on a deserted highway and a gun is pointed at their heads.
