Alex givin up 15-4, $3000/game..............

Dippy could play a bit and he got up to 19-4 from Gabe -He may have won that game but he lost at 18, 17, 16 etc-loads! Superstars can give much bigger spots than most expect. Alex knows exactly what he is doing- He just is playing below average right now. This guy didnt sneak up on him-promise!

Are they playing with 16 numbered balls? Or did you mean 15 when you typed 16? Or do I not get how it works?

Ok, follow me here: an even game is 8-8, right? 8 + 8=16, right? So, the total for any game must add up to 16 or less. Ex: You're getting spotted 20-5. That adds to 25,right? 25 is 9 more than 16,right? So, the player giving the weight would spot nine balls then go to eleven(11+5=16) The game total after the spot must add up to 16 or less. If you're getting 10-5(or any other total less than 16) there are no balls spotted because total is less than 16. Are you with me now? If Alex was giving up 16-4, he'd need to spot 4 balls and then go to 12.

Nick Varner once gave a guy 50-5 so Nick had to spot 39 balls :yikes:

39 actually. He'd spot 39 and then go to 11. Now THAT my friends is a SPOT. Wow. What happens when the line of spotted balls goes all the way to the rail? Start at the other end somewhere?

I need my computer to get chat.....not an option on my IPad.

It should be. Works on my iPad.

You have to use the Youtube app. Then when the video is playing - not in full screen - there is a little up-carrot (^) on the bottom that says "Live chat" next to it. That pulls the chat up.

On one of my iPads if the chat is pulled up the chat messages will pop up on the screen and then fade. The other iPad doesn't do that but both and my phone allow the chat.

I may try that....thanx

PT, on my Ipad, when I tap the screen, there are icons at the top right....one is for chat.

I don't know, if anyone, is backing or giving his opponent here any advice. Clearly Alex is wearing him down, and perhaps the guy is feeling guilty about getting such a big spot. He should make Alex win it back the same way he lost it and not keep allowing Alex to raise the bet. Most importantly, he needs to take a break and go get some rest. The guy doesn't appear to be in the physical condition to be able to be playing an ultra marathon session like this at the top of his game, as opposed to Alex who I'm sure has done it many times, successfully.
Bottom line - the guy is still up, so he needs to realize that he is in the position to dictate the terms regarding how much they are playing for, the spot, and taking a much needed break. Alex can accept his terms, or quit and pay up! Just sad to see the guy giving it all away due to inexperience, after having worked so hard the past 48-72 hours to get himself in this position.
Some people just don't know how to gamble or what to do when they have someone in a mortal lock.
That's why you try to have backers going in who know what it's all about...............................and with big pistols too, just in case there's "a refusal about paying up or you gotta give me a chance to win it back".
Fat Man used to say...."winning the money isn't the problem...getting out of there with it is the problem"

In an even spot race, the game will finish at 8-7. Not 8-8. The race is to 8 balls. The spot or lack of spot is the 8-8. No one follows you because you decided to jump off a cliff rather than walk the path. The game Alex is giving is shifted, since his opponent only needs 4, the ball count gets shifted to look like 12-4. Now since the actual race is 15-4, Alex only needs to spot 3 balls. Your math is wrong.

Well you got this one right, but completely whiffed the other one. And the ball gets spotted in front instead of behind.

HUH?? If the spot is 16-4 Alex has to spot 4 and go to 12. Balls spotted are based on a 16 total. After AP spots his four he goes to 12. At 15-4 AP would spot 3 and go to 12. The number of balls over 16 is what gets spotted. I think we're all on same page.

You are both correct so what's the issue here? Giving a 15-4 spot, he spots his first 3 balls pocketed - end of discussion.

It was 16-4,16-4,17-4 last night. So two games 16-4 then one game 17-4. That's why Dennis spotted 4 balls occasionally.

I get that. Still trying to figure out how my "math is wrong". In an even game both go to 8 thus the 16 total used to figure spotted balls.

Regardless of whether its 15, 16, or 17-4, that is just plain ignorance / stupidity / greed on the part of him and/or his stake horse to think he can spot a player as good as this guy such a spot, and still win. I hope he loses 6 figures!

Just curious, have you watched some of the feed of the match to see how this guy plays? He's good enough he could have played in this one-pocket tournament and could have won some matches against professional one-pocket players, with no spot, and he very well may have.
