Alex P interview:

Interviewer: You were stuck yesterday didn't you know you were beat?

Alex: First of all I'd like to thank everybody here who support us. I thank you thank you very much to all of you.

(I missed a few seconds here)

Interviewer: ...You got heart son that's all there is.

Alex: I was stuck 22 games yesterday um..I I didn't do anything wrong the guy just kept running out he's playing lights out he just keeps running, running out, running out. I said to myself eventually he's gonna get tired and when my time comes I better be ready.

Interviewer: Well you were ready. I got one question it's the same question everybody here and everybody out there wants to know. Are you gonna play again?

Alex: Oh yeah. (excitedly)

Interviewer: (Laughter) Outstanding. So you had uh you had a sponsor for this event. Do you wanna thank John for that or...?

Alex: Oh yeah thank you John Mars (sp?) for putting me in thank you very much and for your support. YEAH!!!

crowd cheers

Interviewer: The Lion ladies and gentleman. Alex Pagulyan.

SVB interview:

Interviewer: You fought a hell of a fight man. You jumped out yesterday and put on...I was sitting over there and watched...a lot of people a lot of players a lot of your peers said you played some of the most perfect pool they had ever seen in your life and uh...came up 6 games short. What do you have to say about the match?

SVB: uh I don't know I played bad today. He played good. That's the way it goes..so.

Interviewer: Now I'm gonna ask you the same question I just asked him. Are you gonna play again?

SVB: Ahhh Might play again.

Interviewer: Might play again? You guys have been bangin' heads all year man you can't quit now.

SVB: I think I'm gonna wait for a while so.

Interviewer: Gonna wait for a while? Gonna play this tournament. Good luck in the tournament. I want to thank you. You were the champion for two of these man and I'm sure we'll see you back. Thanks a lot Shane.

Interviewer: Give a hand for both of these guys one more time.

Crowd cheers.

This took me some time and I tried my best to get it word for word. I had to stop taping and restart real quick because youtube only does 10 minute vids so I did miss a couple seconds at the beginning. I think it was a real interesting interview.

I just realized why I'm so excited about this match. From now on no matter what the score is in a TAR race to 100 on day 3 I will be ordering the PPV and never losing hope for any player no matter how far they are behind.

I have been inspired by Alex to never give up in a Money match that I am losing badly. Nor will I give up on anyone I am sweating because I know they are going to be thinking, "If Alex could do it, I can do it."

May start a revolution here! Let these words rekindle the flickering fire inside every pool player heart.

Talk about inspiration. I went to play pool last night because I HAD to after Alex's performance. He actually made me excited to play.

I won the first set for 100 7:5 - I lost the second one 7:0 but when I was 6:0 down I told my girlfriend if Alex can do it so can I. Then I won the last set with some great shots at the end of a hill hill set.

Thanks Alex - you are my hero from here on out.

i actually went and played too because i was inspired by the match and in the mood. I still played as bad as I usually do!

Yep never felt so inspired. I was practicing my break big time. I wish I could see how well I could spread the balls on the exact same equipment they were playing on. (I have an 8 footer at home) too easy.

I really hope Shane puts it all into perspective and decides he is GLAD to be a part of that historic match and I hope it's like a wake up call and it makes pool fun and challenging for him again and works even harder and makes him even hungrier.

I like this feel-good thread. It is refreshing to read how Alex inspires others to pump up their game.

Bravo to you, Luxury, on the transcription of the interview! Transcribing without equipment, i.e., a foot pedal, is tough, unless you can type 200 words per minute. Good job! I enjoyed the read. :)

Thanks Jam. When I heard the interview on TAR live I didn't understand half of it cuz of the excitement and the mumbling. I saw a lot of posts of people asking what was said in the interview. I played and paused and rewound a hundered times to get it virtually word for word and in the end I realized some very interesting things were said and some things were even profound. I would really really love to hear another interview from Shane a few days after he's recoverd a little from it and has put everything into perspective.

Welcome to my world. I transcribe for a living! :D

Between the mumblers, poor quality audio, and accented speech, these are things I struggle with every single day.

If you ever need a foot pedal to transcribe on your computer, they are relatively inexpensive, about 50 to 60 bucks depending on where you get it. The most popular one today for digital files is the Infinity pedal: http://www.tvps.com/Products/ECS-IN...N-USB-1.aspx?gclid=CInq-MGrqJMCFQrVsgod0iqgoQ

Here's a picture of some others. The one on the left is a StartStop pedal, which is quite popular for court work, and the one on the right is a Sony foot pedal, my favorite.

They just plug into your computer, usually via a USB port today, and you can control the speed of the audio. When you remove your foot from the pedal, the audio backs up 2 or 3 seconds. Once you get a rhythm going, it's smooth sailing ahead. :)

If you had one of these babies, you would have been able to transcribe the interview a whole lot easier. I know how time-consuming and difficult it must have been doing it the way you did it.

Speaking of which, I got 3 hours of audio calling my name right now, waiting to get transcribed, all due today, of course. :D

You are right it took longer than I'd planned and I wish I'd had your equipment but it was no biggie cause I did the whole thing while at work so I didn't lose a minute of my free time.

What, is there an echo in here? :D

This forum is experiencing problems again today. When you click on the links, nothing happens for what seems like an eternity. That is why you have the repeated posts, Luxury.

Job well done for sure!

BTW, since I may not be able to post anymore on this forum today since it is so slow, I want to give a shout-out HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Shane Van Boening's grandfather who turns 81 years young today.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the grandfather of Shane! :)

I played a race to 40 for the first time ever last night. Usually I do ahead sets or short races.

Race to 40 certainly is more fun IMO.
