Alex Pagulayan Can't Play Boyes Tomorrow - Tony Robles to Replace Him

Funny thing. All my life I've lived near and loved Canada and Canadians. Since 9/11 I've heard more Canadians prove they are not our staunchest ally than in all the combined memories of the 56 years of my life. You may think that I'm taking this too seriously, but for Americans it's a serious subject. We can't have open borders any more. If you don't get it, oh well. I figure you need us more than we need you...Tom

Hey Tom, quit trying to convince us you are superior (morally or otherwise)
We are one of the few allies who are still as of today fighting and dying with you in Afghanistan (where the real terrorists are not in Iraq where Bush said they were)
read this link and bear in mind the list is outdated:
http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNe...ghanistan_incidents_060423/20060424?hub=World

Oh yeah, and read this one, it will let you know how much you need us!

All I was trying to was make a joke about how alot of us Canadians feel is a lack of trust from our southern cousins.

"He who would trade liberty for some temporary security, deserves neither liberty nor security!" - Ben Franklin

Sorry for the thread hijack all...Go Robles go!

Well

I think Canadians are alright. They only act up when they are around
Austrialians, for some unknown reason,,,. LOL

Great post.

When I was in the military, I was able to go on a field exercise called Rendevous - which was held up around Wainwright, Alberta. For 3 weeks my squad was assigned to a Canadian unit providing Air Defense. It was probably the most fun I ever had as a soldier. We traded field equipment with each other, played poker all night in the tents - and I was able to see some of the friends I had made there a few years later at KKMC in Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. We were all there.

9/11 took everybody by surprise on both sides of our borders. I was in Canada (Toronto - Mississauga - Whitby) immediately before and after 9/11. I remember the ribbons that were displayed, and the American flag was displayed next to the Canadian flag almost everywhere I went, even in some of the predominantly Muslim communities in Scarborough. It affected all of us, and I remember the outpouring of support that came from the north.

What any of this has to do with Alex having passport trouble confuses me - I just wonder if Alex has also misplaced his mousse. Now... that would really ruin his day.

:p

(First met Alex when he was playing snooker in Toronto)

either that or his elevator shoes:D

Well sir this is not Pool related and if you feel the need to bash other nationalities take it to the NPR room. But since it is here I will respond...

Canadians were among the rescuers that went to NY after 9/11 occurred, to aid your countrymen in the rescue efforts. How many other countries came to the aid of your fellow Americans?

If we are not your staunchest ally, who is? If not Canadians than no one...is this really how you want?

Canadians was among the first nations to help in Afganistan and Canadians are being killed along side your American brothers and sisters at this point in time...yet Canadian sacrifices does not count for anything to you?

You need to re-evaluate how you view Canadians. Among your own people there are those who do not agree with the American actions and policies, so if Canadians voice their opinion to our friends across the border we are not your allies?

Your borders are wide open to the South of your country and at your Ports to every drug importer and foreign worker. Yet with your 2nd largest trading partner after China you want to close the border...If you don't want our oil or trade, just get it from the Middle East...ohh right your Country is spending billions (trillions?) on it's war effort in the middle east, and it's not going so well over there is it?

Well that's enough of a rant. God Bless North American brotherhood!
Great post.Little do they remember that when 911 happened we grounded hundreds of flights with thousands of people on boards into canada that day and sent thousands of people for relief efforts days after.
Oh,and I should point out my nefew is in afganastan fighting for OUR and YOUR freedom.Staunchest ally......I guess not.

I could provide a flippant response to you in this thread, much like you have just done, but I won't lower myself to your level.

To stay on topic of the thread, I am looking forward to seeing Tony Robles and Karl Boyes in this upcoming IPT challenge match. I'll bet Tony is excited as can be.

He will commentate on the Schmidt versus Sigel challenge match first, I take it, since they are the undercard.

Good luck to Tony Robles! May the best man win! :)

Did Tony share any strategies with you for this match-up? Hopefully, he will get to practice on the designated table to get used to the equipment. I'm assuming it's a Diamond table, but I am not sure.

When did he find out he would be playing?

JAM, I find myself STARING at your little ferocious typer guy at the bottom of all your responses and it cracks me up every time!

Thanks for the time line for the events. I really didn't know which would come first!

I don't use the ignore feature, but to accommodate your kind wishes, please don't call me any more names, like a "patriotic ass," and I will never reply to you again.

Once again, to stay on the topic of the thread:

USA, ALL THE WAY.

GO, TONY, GO.

His strategy is WIN! :) He's actually just really excited about the opportunity. The whole thing was so last minute. He was playing Shin Park in the Predator event this Sunday and got the call to do the commentating. Then on Monday morning they called him again and told him Alex couldn't make it and asked him to fill in. He actually had to go back to the city, from the airport, for his cues! That's how last minute it all was.

He's won the last two Predator events so he seems to be shooting well of recent. My only concern is the jet lag factor. He got in last night to Cally at midnight and had to do interviews till 3am and be at the studio today by noon so sleep probably hasn't been his friend. I still think he's gonna whoop some British booty! :smiling-heart:

And yes, it is a diamond table.

That little ferocious typer guy is what I look like replying to some of the posts on this forum sometimes. :banghead: :nono:

Tony is on the MAIN card of the whole event. So Schmidt versus Sigel will probably be the first match, race to 100, straight pool, at least that is what I am thinking will happen.

This is actually good for Tony in that it gives him a chance to relax, while he is commentating, and it will put him in a good pool mood for his match, analyzing Sigel and Schmidt.

I am actually looking forward to this! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Straight Pool Notes

Grady is certainly a great 14:1 commentator. The Schmidt/Sigel match could come down to the first player to get an open shot. I saw Sigel run 150 and out against Zuglan and Schimdt is equally skilled. This match should have been the headliner. IMO.

Reading posts written by somebody who has been banned from this forum three times, it is interesting the responses you bring forth from time to time. Complaining about preferential treatment that others receive coming from you is an oxymoron.
