So Alex has been competing in the Big Tyme Classic and has been in Houston since Wednesday. One of the first things I noticed when I saw him is his cue, which looks an awful lot like a Southwest but I could be wrong. All I know for sure is that the shaft on that cue doesn't look like an OB, he is playing with a new cue and he isn't on OB's website unless you google him.

Anybody know what he is playing with now? If not I'll ask him later tonight when I get there. The Open starts at 7 central and I'm donating.

yeah...when alex wasn't really playing much competitive pool he and OB apparently agreed to part ways. i couldn't tell from the stream, but it looked like he could still be using an OB shaft. there are several of their players that only use the shaft not the entire cue.

He played with 2 cues at the one pocket tournament at Buffalo's Billiards last week. I was told one was a Mezz butt with a predator shaft (not sure which predator shaft though).

The search feature is a powerful tool in case you didn't know...but yes its true, Alex isn't sponsored by OB anymore as of sometime last fall. He wanted to focus more on snooker and didn't feel right to be sponsored by a manufacturer that doesn't focus on snooker products.

Last week in the big one pocket event Alex played with three different cues :)
Sometimes he used more than one in each game

He was playing with a Mezz at the DCC last year. If I recall correctly, he won the all around that year as well as the 1P division.

Just to add a little more ambiguity to the discussion, I was told that Alex was using a MEZZ shaft to play with this past week. :D

But that he switches shafts/cues back & forth, frequently........

Alex made THE BEST 8 & OUT in one pocket of all time in the big one pocket tournament that Ray Hansen recently organized at Buffalo Billiards in Metairie, LA, at least that I have personally witnessed.

I've used as many as 36 cues in 1 match before because the first 35 weren't playing right. :D :embarrassed2:

So I can understand if Alex has done something similar.

best,

Am not bothered whether you are boasting or roasting us but my question is did you hire a pool caddy to carry all that

no boasting, just funning.

I've seen Alex over a long period of time switching things up during his matches like a couple different shafts going on and off his old Schon butt.

I think to some degree many of us continue to tweak our mechanics and equipment.

Nature of the beast.

best,
