Alex,
I will post your pics here and keep adding progression pics every other day or so. I will have hold points in the build where you will have to make decisions about your design as things come up.
It has been my experience that as we get into it you might get different ideas along the way. Your rings and inlay design will be addressed sometime next week. For now we are just framing the house.
Your first design decision is do you want and ebony or a purple heart butt sleeve? Both would be fine. When designing your cue it is always wise to either match the points or the forearm wood with the butt sleeve. You can't make a bad choice as I know that you were thinking about both of those woods. You have 4 or 5 days to decide.
Thanks,
Rick
Dead straight seasoned 3/4" maple core running at 2500 rpms.
Coring the Purple Heart Fore Arm and Handle stock.
Basic Cue stock prepared for your custom cue. The dowel and the tapered shaft stock has been seasoning at these dimensions since 2008.
I will be gluing up the fore arm to the dowel later today and I will be cutting the point grooves and preparing the ebony point stock on Sat.
Cutting the ebony point stock on the bandsaw. I tapered the forearm down this morning and started cutting the point groves.
Points being glued and clamped into the forearm.
