All Hail to Vagabond - AZB Humanitarian of the Week

Well, I went to my mailbox today, and what should appear but a FedEx package. The sender was Vagabond; from parts unknown. I eagerly ripped open the box, and inside was a worn (?well used?) copy of the Buddy Hall book "From Rags to Rifleman".

The habitual posters here will know that I have been looking for a reasonably priced copy of this book for over 2 years. Since that strategy failed miserably, I was then offering money to people to copy it for me - that failed also. I recently got an e-mail from Vagabond offering to let me read his. Two days later, here it is.

Many, many thanks to Vagabond. We don't know much about him, but now we do know he is a great humanitarian. It was such a nice gesture that I'm definitely going to have to send it back to him after reading (instead of selling it on E-Bay for $1000 as I originally planned - just kidding V-man :) :) ). I knew I hung around this forum for a reason.

I used to think this book was worth only 30-40 bucks but the last ebay auction for a less-than-mint copy was at 103 dollars with a day left to go.

Pretty cool to give away a copy, even if its worn.

That's a beautiful gesture. I hope to one day read it as well. Kudos to Vagabond and the good people on this forum.

There must be something in the air

Bud Green just gave me one of his copies of Do It For The Game.

For all the negativity going on lately, it sure is nice to have people like vagabond & bud to restore one's faith in good people. ;)

Thank you but I do not deserve such a nice compliment.
If the law allows ( I pay attention to legalities) you may copy that book for your archives.I know u have to spilt it to copy it and I do not mind as long as it it is glued together after copying.

didnt you start the honesty thread? :)

glad you received a legal copy!

Icon,
Actually I called Bebob publishing to ask them if they had any, or would print any. He said no, your best bet is library, e-bay, or copy someone else's. I think I'm pretty much in the clear.

V-bond,
There is NO WAY to copy it without destroying it. Just skimming it, it looks amazing. I'll just break down and eventually buy a copy on the internet for my collection (but thanks to you I have plenty of time to be selective; cause I will have read it).

That was awfully nice of him and yes there are alot of nice people here on the board.

Good on you, Vagabond, you da man.

Hey Willie, can I pay you to make a copy for me? Maybe scan it to a PDF file and pass it on to the other AZB'ers? (don't ruin the book, just lay it on the scanner) Besides cash, I'd be willing to kick in my first born or possibly a left body part
