Allen Hopkins question

The recent thread on here about the Reyes-Hopkins match from 1990 got me thinking. By the end of the 1990's Allen seemed to be focusing on the expo and his family more than pool. At one time he was one of the top money players in the game. My question is even though he wasn't playing a lot of tournaments later in his career, did he still play a lot of money matches? He went to Derby City many times but I never heard a lot about how well he played. I'm sure mere mortals were not interested in tangling with him but how about the elite players?

I doubt that Allen Hopkins, by 2000, could win a large percentage of matches against the elite players at that time. He is certainly a past great player, but he really did not have the stroke to keep up with the speed of the elites in the 2000 timeframe.
Agree here.

Spot on answer here.

Allen was still competitive in both straight pool and one pocket until about 2006, but as suggested, his action days were largely behind him by around 2000.
