It is a 13 foot 1 inch alligator. Still pretty big and the picture is real. It was shot in Texas though.

A 13 footer would'nt be much of a story, as they are fairly common, but I guess if that one site has the facts correct, then someone did make a story from It

I grew up on waters that had living in It what was even a huge alligator or saltwater croc. I have seen It a few times in My life and never determained what species, but I did know that this thing was huge, and It was a very humbling experience when fishing calm waters, and seeing this thing roll up on You in person. every once in a while someone would tell a story about It, and I'd say yes It's been living there since I was very young. It would favor a creek that ran inland some, but was connected to a intercoastal water way that has an inlet to the ocean. It rarely ventured out of this saltwater creek, but would find refuge deep up inside of It. There is a freshwater runnoff that stretches half of the county and runs into that creek, so That only makes figuring out what species It is even harder. By the shear size of It I would say croc, but They are'nt known for living in north FL, only the southern tip as far as I know of, and the last time Me and a friend saw It, the head was the first part I saw and it was very massive & wide like A gator. Possible I was only seeing the area around the eyes though, and not the nose. We did see the body and tail though, and My friend freaked out on Me, because altough He heard Me talk about It, It was still only a urban legend to him Being from PA originally. We were fishing on the bottom of this steep sandy bluff when we saw It, looked like a loggerhead at first, then the body and tail showed, funniest thing- he kept running up that cliff, with His fishing pole & tackle box in hand, tackle spilling out everywhere, and he just kept sliding back down LOL. I kept on fishing and watched It swim on by and deep up into that creek, just minding his own bussiness.
I know another guy saw It up in there fishing one day out of a small jon boat, He quit fishing and blames It on that encounter.
I can only guess It's still alive, because If anyone had pulled that monster out of there I would have heard about It.

Had seen this photo and description in an email that was circulating a couple of months ago. The man pictured in the background is supposedly
6ft 5in! I believe a second aerial picture of it was attached with a full sized deer in it's mouth cruising accross the lake. I recall it was a Texas gator.
