I went to the local dive last night to shoot in a small 9 Ball tourney.on their crumby bar box tables. The cloth was filthy and the tables remind me of an un-mowed golf course. I swear the ply wood floor moves when you walk on it.

I'm surprised the little hick town I live in hasn't condemned the place. the jute box was blaring, the place was full of smoke and a couple of the bar flies were almost louder then the jute box. I won't even try to describe the bath rooms, yuk!

Any way I loose the lag and the guy dry breaks. I make a combo with the 1 and 9 ball. I then break and make 6 balls including the 9. A personal best and a fluke. I break again and make 3 balls and the 9, but jump cue ball off of the table. If I could of kept the cue ball on the table I would of won 3 games in a row with 3 shots. Rest of the tourney I could only make one on the break and was usually hooked for the next shot.

I took 2nd and the guy that beat me got his first ever tourney win! He was thrilled and I was very happy for him and invited him over to my house to shoot some pool today. I think he has potential and just needs some good table time on a decent table.

That sounds like a tourney I go to on Tuesdays. Its some dive bar with crappy bar boxes with 1 8ft bar box. 8 ball tourney double elimination with 9 ball being the losers game. Its always a lot of fun though. Great crowd of pool players all about the same speed just having fun drinking and shooting pool. I haven't been in awhile but want to go back to play soon.

6 balls and a 9. You can teach me your break any day.

Still, that is a great showing.

For myself, I take that in stride. If I make a great, impossible, never to be done again shot, I usually get rewarded with a scratch.

Such is Life in the Pool Lane.
