I use the Silke Hand - Invisible Powder instead of talc.

The only problem is that the bottle is quite expensive and doesn't last long.

Any recommendations for similar products?

Thanks, Jon Birger

You should try Silver Cup Premium Talc - "Especially for the billiard player". You can find it on amazon.

It's better than any talc I've ever used cause it's feels "smooth & fine" in your hand -vs- coarse and gritty like talc.

You can find it on Amazon last I checked, TRUST me, you'll Love it!

It comes in a big size but I just bought a very small baby talc bottle, dumped that and filled it with the Silver Cup Premium Talc

Good luck and let me know how you like it!

Is it an actual power or a liquid?

TNTcustomcues sells "Billiard Cloth". These towels work really well....

I never use powder or Talc,,,,,actually nobody I play with does.
If you maintain your shaft properly it's not needed,, a little hot water and soap on the hands occasionally is all we use.

Thanks for your replies.

You feel when it is out, and it lasts for quite a while. It is not messy. That is my reason for using it instead of talc.

Two non-powder alternatives

One is the Q-Wiz which is a great shaft cleaner/burnisher

The other is a Ritz dusting cloth which is a fine grade lint free flannel of sorts that is great for cleaning your shaft? It pulls excess oils and warms quickly to leave a shiny smooth surface

Both can be washed and reused.
