I'm beginning to wonder if I'm crazy ever since I got on this forum I have bought several cues ... I know somewhere I need to slow down I can't possibly use them all... I have a deep love for a great looking cue I prefer a Schon but since I came here I have got into the world of customs. I have had several built or in the process of being built. Several I designed myself like the ones Jimmy Lee and Doug Patrick and Leon Sly are building me ... Some I saw and realy like, like the one Joe Baker sold to me ... Jeff Eason is building me one we designed together and a J/B that is something of a cross between Jeff's , Leon Sly's and my idea's ... I also designed a Sneaky Jeff made me ...

I have talked to several ... Eddie Wheat was very pleasant and full of energy and you could tell the guy really wants to build a cue to please his customers. He is full of helpful advise and always looking out for his customers best intrests ...

Jeff Eason and I have become best friends he is either at my house on my table or I'm at his house watching him work and asking a 1000 questions ... I could not have a better friend then Jeff Eason ... The guy is fantastic... Not to mention he does all my up keep on my cues ...lol...

Doug Patrick has been awesome to deal with also ... He has been loaded down with work since the expo and is turning out an excellent product. He was the very first one to whom I asked to build me a cue ... I am still waiting on pics to see how it is coming but he keeps me updated ... And he calls me to see how I'm doing or ask questions about the cue ...

Joe Baker was a awesome guy to deal with he built a very nice cue that hits lights out and looks very fancy and nice. Joe takes alot of pride in his work and I'm proud to own one of his cues ...

I got to talk to masonh via pm the other night and he put me on his list... The man is very busy I can wait 1 1/2 year to 2 years maybe it will give me time to get what all I got in the works finished up ...lol...

Koinnkid is not a cue builder but he is a cue seller and one of the best on AZ he was the first one I worked a deal with ... He is my favorite seller and if I need something I don't hesitate to ask him... He is super nice guy and has a large slection of supplies and cues to deal you ... Just no cuetex bowties ...lol...;)

As I said Jeff Eason is my best friend and I will always have some work for Jeff ... But the two guys on here that have really impressed me and who I will be doing most of my future business with are Jimmy Lee ... And Leon Sly, aka... Sly Master, aka ... Sly Dawg, ...,aka Georgia Peach...lol.. ,

Jimmy is buidling me a custom of my own design I can't begin to tell you how hard he has worked to make me happy... Not one request have I made that he did not allow and look forward to doing ... PM's, phone calls ,pictures , plenty of updates ... anything and everything is what Jimmy is willing to do for you ... He turns out quality work and is very reasonable on his prices. Like Jeff Eason I feel I have found a friend in Jimmy Lee and can hardly wait to get this cue he is building for me ... I'm already in the planning stages of another cue I want Jimmy to start on by the end of the year...

Leon Sly ... The guy is a master who turns out awesome work ... Leon was one of my first choices to build a cue for me so I PM'ed him and his reply was an apologetic I'm sorry right now I have to many cues to build and I'm turning more to high end cues... Then about a week ago he calls me up out of the blue and we talked for a couple hours... This guy had me laughing so hard it was unreal... He is from Maryland and talks just like my Uncles and family up in PA... By the time I hung up I had him commited to building me a quilted maple cue I had been planning to get made... He has called every night since then just to B.S. and talk about whatever ... we spend a hour or so laughing until our sides are about to bust... He is what Jeff Eason refers to as his mentor and has been helping Jeff get started in making cues. The three of us have become friends and Leon is even planning a trip down here to visit.... Last night I bought a awesome looking Sneaky from him ... Hoppe style with a Coco joint Leon swears coco jointed cues " Are the nuts and monster players" I'm about to find out...

Man we were laughing so hard on the phone last night ... Leon could'nt stop and neither could I ... I had something on the stove I had forgot because I was enjoying the conversation so much ... When I got off the phone I Pm'ed my good friend Jeff Eason and went to bed about 20 mins later Leon was calling again... Good thing he did I went to the kitchen and the smoke was so thick I about got choked out ... Thats bad when you enjoy talking to someone so much about pool and cues and whatever that you forget what your doing and almost burn your home down ... Let's see I have Leon building me the quilted maple cue ... He is sending me the coco willie hoppe style cue and we have a third cue in the planning stages... All of these customs from these guys I will hold onto...

I'm not even going mention BHQ who is building me a JB and has been just as awsome to deal with ....

I have really enjoyed AZ and the people here ... These are most of the cue makers I have dealt with ... Jimmy Lee and Leon will get most of my work from now on though there may be others I try out from time to time ... I am very happy with Leon and Jimmy ...

So tell me am I crazy ... In need of a doctor ... Or just in love with good looking cues ???

I don't believe your crazy. I was told this in all 17 of my 12 step to mental health programs. You are welcome to view more cues on my website if you like. http://www.triplecrosscues.com

Good luck with your searches for the HOLY GRAIL OF CUES!

I've always felt that I've had an interesting outlook on the collection of cues. I'm far from being a great pool player. However...over the years...I've come to greatly appreciate the amount of work that often goes into the instruments that make it even possible for us to play the game we enjoy. I can honestly say I have genuinely enjoyed every cue I've owned. I play with every cue I buy...even if only for a day. The thing is...I've always had a hard time saving money. I simply don't enjoy having my money sitting in the bank, or tied up in anything else. Despite the fact I could be making a decent return on my investment...it's just not fun. Cues however...I enjoy thoroughly. And...after having owned dozens over the years...I've almost always gotten back what I've put into them...if not more. If I sold all the cues I have today at the cost which I purchased them...well...I'd have all the money I ever spent on those cues. To me...if nothing else...cue collecting is a way of SAVING money...not spending it. :-) And when I think of all the enjoyment I get from saving my money in this manner...it damn near makes me giddy. LOL

Nice thread guys

Nice thread guys thanks for the comments ..... I agree with you Retail1LO to me buying these cues is a way of saving money I have yet to lose money on a cue ... I have started getting more and more into customs as I said earlier I prefer Schon but as I get more into customs I seem to be playing more with them... My plans are to hold onto the customs I have being built for me ... And I have started selling some of the cues I purchased used or manufactued / production cues ... And reinvesting more in customs... I have two Schons one I am now also thinking about selling ... While I will always probably own a Schon as I said I'm turning more and more to customs and the use of them.

Brent don't worry I doubt I will ever get into making cues it would take to much time away from my game ... I prefer the buying aspect much better ...lol... Also your doing some awesome work with those butterfly's ...

TripXQ checked out your site those are some nice looking cues ... Thanks for sharing ...

Joe thanks for the comments ... I'm still loving the custom you sold me ... paying for the cues has not been a problem ... finding time to play them all has been harder ...lol...

You've got to make a more horrible cue to keep for yourself then.
Someone will try to snatch this beauty out of your hand soon.

THIS CUE IS VERY, VERY, NICE, SIR!.
(Yes, I'm yelling)

I think we have all wondered that at some point about ourselves. It's fun to check out all the different cues and makers....sometimes just when you think you've decided what you like (styles, designs, 'hit', joint config, favorite tip, etc.) you get ahold of somthing else that strikes your fancy. When I started off collecting cues, it was classic stuff all the way. Have had many cues along the way, my tastes changed somewhat, and now the preferences are back to where they began. It's also fun and illuminating to talk with makers and see what they do differently (or the same) when constructing their cues. Most people wouldn't understand, but there is a whole lot that goes into making a good hitting cue. It's all definitely somewhat of an 'addiction'....just best kept in check !! :)
