Am I nuts?

So recently I put a Kamui Black Hard on my playing cue. Some of the guys that I play with think that I am nuts for doing this. They asked if I like miscues. I have to say that I have no problems with it so far. I am able to do at least as much as I was doing with a medium tip. I mostly wanted to have the same feeling all the time. So am I nuts?

Go with whatever is comfortable for YOU.

If you're able to do everything you need to and have no miscue issues, then don't feel guilty about it.

FWIW, I have a Ki-Tech Hard, and it makes a nice, lil "click" sound upon contact. I have no miscue issues and it's THE best tip I've ever used.

Every person that has hit with it has said virtually the same thing, almost word-for-word, "Dang. That tip feels hard, but hits great! Ain't a damn thing wrong with that!"

To each their own. Enjoy it!

I don't think so I like a harder tip my self gives a better feed back too me

As long as the tip will hold chalk, the hardness will only affect the feel, not miscues. I think after you've played with the same tip for awhile, most of the tips get very hard anyway.

The issue is most tip companies just press the same tip to different hardness grades and if they press the soft or medium under 70 then they have no real choice but to harden up... The Ki-Techs all start over 70 but they feel and act like they are supposed to act based on the hardness grade you bought... They may harden up a point or 2 but they won't move more than that... SO your soft will still be a soft 2-3 months down the road... Most layered softs are mediums within 4-6 weeks.....

Thanks for your reply. I was hoping that you would chime in here. Likely I will try out one of your tips at some point. With the way this tip is playing right now I am really liking it. I guess I just like them hard. (wait what did I just say?)

The funny thing is that since I have put that tip on I have noticed that it looks almost exactly like my break shaft. OB-1 play shaft and an OB Break shaft with a samsara. There were a couple times where I actually broke and played with my breaker on accident. Only real difference I noticed eventually was the sound. I was able to do just as much with my breaker. Good to know that if I break both of my shafts I could potentially play with my breaker.
