Amazing comparison

In thinking about the incredible stamina mentally and physically, in golf if you win lets say The British Open, one would shoot roughly 70x4 = 280 strokes over 4 days, the IPT players shoot roughly a 70 in each match x 6 which is 350 strokes x 6 rounds = s 2100 shots = s 30 rounds of golf. Then on top of it they have to play in the finals. Its almost like the difference between tennis and badminton. Golfers unless they play two rounds in a day are never in competition for 10 hours each day for 6 days plus a for sure heads up final that can last for another 2 hours. Quite amazing, betcha these guys are going to take a vacation after this event and the others will say its too difficult or will spend way more time at the gym.

Well on the other hand, to play devil's advocate...

Pool strokes don't take as much energy as a golf stroke.
Golfers end up walking a few miles from the #1 tee to the #18 green, out in the heat of the day. Pool players (hopefully!) play in air conditioned buildings and just have to walk around the table and to/from their chairs.

I'm guessing you've never seen a professional badminton match. I'd much rather watch a pro badminton match than a pro tennis match. I believe there's much more skill involved! :p

It's all apples and oranges. Most games at the highest levels take equal
amounts of skills.

Many pool players seem to have this small man complex where we're always trying to prove how tough the game is in comparison to other sports.

Mentally, I agree. I don't know any other sport that sees players IN COMPETITION 10+ hours a day for 6 straight days. That's pretty extreme to have to maintain that kind of focus and concentration for that kind of time span. I would think time spent in the gym on cardio exercises to improve the metabolism and efficiency of the respiratory system would be a smart move for any player who expects to be performing well on the final rounds. The better job your heart is doing oxygenating your brain and fueling the nerves and muscles, the easier it is to maintain focus.

Physically however, you've made the assumption that a pool stroke takes about the same amount of toll on one's stamina as a golf stroke, and it's not even close. I don't think an average pool stroke (say a lag-speed hit) takes even 1% the overall exertion of an average golf stroke (let's say a 130-yd approach shot). I've had fairly serious muscle soreness from playing 9 holes of golf when I hadn't played in a while, and I was in good shape at the time. I've never had any soreness from playing pool unless it was over 6 hours of play, and even then, it's a very mild soreness of the back muscles that hold my body in my stance.
