Hello all! So this is my first post and I'm looking for some guidance inspiration knowledge, call it what you will. Me and my Friend from the UK are coming over for a pool hall road trip east to west starting at the Joss tour event 2 on 6/7th Oct I believe, then heading to the US open.

My question is do you guys have a definitive list of top pool halls or tournament dates between Oct 27th 2012 and Jan 4th 2013? We are looking to play as many events as poss or just get some decent action in a hall where I'm not likely to get shot at!

So from 27th oct we'll be heading towards FL state via north Carolina then west bound all the way to Vegas baby! lol sorry I had a compelling impulse to say baby after Vegas!

All help much appreciate and who knows you might see meet me and take some of my college fund!

We have Park Avenue Billiards smoking and QBall Billiards No Smoking in the Jacksonville FL area.
Tournaments on Tues. and the big one on Sun. at Park Avenue Billiards. We have many really good players here to choose from.

Thanks man much appreciated Jacksonville is on the map towards Miami so will make sure we pass through on a Sunday thru Tuesday.

Leave the US Open and head directly to Louisiana. White Diamond Billiards event is $40 entry and has player auctions upwards of $50,000+.

What you need is someone to stir you around if you play at a good speed. You can then avoid playing the best players first, and a good stir horse will know who's the best action. Back in my days all road players had a line on players where ever they went, or someone to stir them around. Of course the person stiring you would have to know your exact speed.

Thanks for the guidance, if you may explain a couple of things so I got it all straight in my head....Speed = skill? Stir horse = backer? Line = bet? how am I doing so far? lol

If all of that is good i'd be happy to set up a speed test! We both play a good standard so looking to take the next steps hence the road trip and perfect the art!

We will all know who he is...he'll be the guy with the accent looking to get stirred, instead of steered...c/o backplaying

If you are heading towards the Chicago area you will want to check out the tournaments at The Carom Room, South Beloit, Wisconsin. They have both "open" and "no master" tourneys. You can see the schedule for 2012/2013 at their website under the same name. Some of the best amateur, semi-professional, and professional players from the Midwest play in these tourneys. Entry fee is usually $35.00 and play is on Diamond 7' tables. Anywhere from 50 to 120 players in each tourney so the payouts are quite high along with a calcutta, as well. Very well run tournaments, excellent equipment, and some of the best competition you will find anywhere. Lots of side action if you want to test your skill under gambling conditions.
Speedi

Hey Speedi some really good info there as we're flying to Toronto first we'll be in Chicago area pretty soon after that, can you explain what calcutta is!? I'm reading that a lot round here and have no clue.

Calcutta

It's a side pot that is made up of cash from auctioning off the players. It usually pays close to same amount of spots too.

Ray

Thanks Ray, I'm guessing when you say auctioning that the better players are a higher value to bet on? or is it a random draw?
