American Rotation in NYC

Is anyone in the NYC area interested in American Rotation?

As far as my understanding goes, it consists of 10 players, which play round robin. The winner gets a free trip to compete in the national event, and the honor of being the national champion. This year the nationals will be at the Derby City Classic, so players who make it to the nationals, will have most of their expenses at Derby already paid for. I think it is also great idea for strong players within an area to have constant competition with each other and keep sharp.
NYC does not have an American Rotation presence so far. It could sure use one.

Its not the winner of the round robin that get a free trip to the Nationals, but the winner of a Regional event held prior to the Nationals, who gets a trip...

It wasn't a free trip either, but guaranteed payouts so it sort of feels free..

Kind of like APA or something.

The 10 players play the 9 match round robin. Then the top 6 players in the standings of that group play a single elimination playoff for the national spot, they do not have to go to a regional. The winner gets $800 travel money and a spot into the national event held at the Derby City Classic in January.

Nothing like APA, no handicaps, no travel, flexible singles schedule and we've paid back 100-120% of what they players have put in. Not that the APA is bad, just that this is nothing like it.

Joe, is there a guaranteed pay-out for EACH player at Nationals? Even if they go out in the 1st round?

Had a local ask me that and I wasn't sure.

Haven't quite reached that level yet but I do look forward to it happening. We would need more player support and me doing a better job of presenting the organization on a regular weekly basis. This would allow us to ask for sponsor support so we could give more to the players.

Qualifiers get their $800 travel $, entry into the event, 4 round robin matches and we have paid out 25-50% of the fields in the past.

Hi Joe,

Thanks for clarification. Joe is one of the real good guys in the sport. I hope we cross paths again soon.
